LamarMatic’s Throwback: Magic (29pts/11rebs/19asts) & James Worthy (38pts) vs. Wilkins (38pts) & Rivers (15pts/15asts)

The duo of Magic and Big Game James wreak havoc on the Atlanta Hawks. Even though the Hawks for a moment enjoyed a 17 point lead during the 3rd quarter, the reigning champions fight back for an ending with an overtime. Magic Johnson, by handing out 19 assists, helps James Worthy get his career high of 38 points. February 19, 1988.

When watching guys like Dominique Wilkins, Mark Aguirre and Adrian Dantley, it truly seems like there will never again be any forward who scores the ball in the way they used to. Nique uses his signature spins, off-balance bank shots, throws down some beautiful jams, however he’s not particularly clutch in this game. He goes off for 34 points during the first three quarters, yet scores only 4 points during the fourth and overtime as his field goal percentage also slides down the hill to 40% (17/42). Doc Rivers mainly supplies the ball for Wilkins and also adds 15 points. A true point guard performance by Doc.

Cliff Levingston has a career game against the Los Angeles Lakers. He’s almost perfect from the field (11/13), scores a career high of 29 points (17 of them in the first half), grabs a bunch of rebounds and those fast break dunks are just sick.

Spud Webb comes off the bench and fills out the energizer role to spurt a run by the Atlanta Hawks.

Enjoy!
