Well it's like half an half. Many people yea do just try to show that they care, so they hop on the bandwagon. But many others think, "oh **** this just happened, they're dead and will never be here again, ever. I need to pay respect and I want to see why this person was loved by so many. I took this person for granted while they were still here." Along those lines.

Also when he's alive you can point out all the bad as much as you want, but when he dies all everyone will want to remember is the good for a certain amount of time after death
