HELP tag the forums: Search feature you can use [Tutorial, READ THIS]

Besides mods/UP and the like, no one on M2 has the search function. But, everyone can search tags, so let's make good use of them.

Vids/clips are obviously a big part of M2 and it would really help if every thread from here on out was tagged with something helpful in some way. It would benefit the community a lot.

For example, we have this thread:
[U.P] "The Gold Lion ® Kobe Bryant (8/24)" Upload Thread
The thread is Kobe Bryant clips, made by Gold Lion.

Here's the process I went through to make tags for his thread:

Scroll all the way down. Right above quick reply, we see the tags


No tags here, so I click on edit tag


Fill in some simple stuff that relates to the thread

In this case you see - Kobe,Bryant,Kobe Bryant, gold lion. You have to separate each tag with a comma, and each tag can only be searched with the exact term, so this way some people can find the thread by typing "Kobe Bryant" and others will still find it typing "Kobe". If you like GL's threads, you would type in "gold lion" into the tag search and find threads made by him if they are tagged.

After tagged, the tags come up like this:

If you're here already, you can click on each tag to see everything under that that. So while in a GL thread, you can click on his name here in the tag and see everything tagged under him.

Now I don't know if everyone has that "search" option as I am an Admin, but you can also get to the tags page by clicking "tags" where you create em, or this link: http://www.mixmakers.net/forums/tags.php

Type in Kobe Bryant and voila! all the threads tagged under the term:



Right now we're not really making any good use of tags, so HELP ME OUT M2! Whenever you make a thread, leave a few simple tags like this - just use player/team names and perhaps the name of the uploader. While making a thread, you can leave tags right under the original post:


Oh yes, we will punish you for leaving dumbass tags.

Aside from the thread author, the athlete try to include things like what's happening in the clip (alley oop, dunk, facial, poster, etc), the team, if it's HD, HQ, etc.

Good job with the thread. I was thinking of leaving some random tag for the hell of it but then I remembered I am supposed to be setting an example here so I quickly stopped!!!

Nice work, man. We should make this a forum announcement so people all over the forum know what's going on, not just here. Other than that though, this is excellent, and if people can start using these tags properly I'm sure there isn't going to be a need for an actual search feature.

I'll make sure I start doing this in the threads I create & post in.
