The mix itself is simply astonishing. You're so new to mixing, but you've already made a big name for yourself, esp with your H4L mix. Hell you even made a splash for your very first mix, just for different reasons heh.
I just love the flow of this mix. When you first told me about it, I felt meh, because I thought you would have to had watched the film to truly understand it. But you really convey the story and emotions throughout its entirety. Your clip selection was so great, matching their actions and shots so well. It really feels like Kobe is trying to be Mike. The color correction was nicely subtle, really calm, it fits the pace of the mix. You're last mix had no climax, but have an effective one. And it really fits the climax of the film too, because its subtle, comes and ends quickly. Both of them hit buzzer beaters, and fade to black. The transformation is complete.
Now the audio work is really well done. You're able to extend trailers so seamlessly. You chose the perfect commentary in the beginning to set up the tone and story. And then you used the trailer audio to build upon it. And that's what makes your movie mixes different from normal trailer mixes. The trailers take a back burner to your mix. You really transition well from shot to shot, using the audio to weave the story.
The only bad things? You forgot to deinterlace a couple clips and the aspect ratio wasn't constant. And I thought you were better than that
But seriously, you're a great member here. You did not disappoint with this mix. I had high expectations for you too. It's unfair to call this another Kobe/Jordan mix, because it's not. It's up there with Gotrare's Moment of Truth. Very well done.
Oh, and the last shot. Very nicely chosen. Taking it back to the old basketball court, where both began and spent hours perfecting their craft. It's the icing on the cake.
Now only one last question. "Do you wanna be like me? Or do you wanna be me?" jk
Great work man.

Hah i actually have your comment on my first mix (for criticism purposes, along w/ all of your comments and other good ones i get) in a Word document. It's still pretty funny.
And i wouldn't say what you do is talk, more like teach, i still think when you have the time someday you should do a series of tutorials. You really have a knack for explaining things and getting the point across.
Anyway, thanks a lot for the flattering and thoughtful post as always:cowboy:
And about the deinterlacing. I did what I thought was deinterlacing heh. I just split the clips...i know hah never been the sharpest tool in the shed:drool: I just looked up what deinterlacing was--totally different from what I originally thought.. And the aspect ratio was off because a few of the clips were in IMAX and could not be cropped without screwing up the ratio even more. Both are things i'll be improving upon in future mixes.
Also very flattering to have one of my mixes be used in the same sentence as Moment of Truth. Thanks again for the comment V.

Well and technically this was well made too - the colour correctors weren't tiresome, good selection of clips and great instrumental songs to go with it

Glad you enjoyed it and most of all, understood what I was going for.

Brainwashed? Into what? Thinking Kobe is better than Jordan? I don't know if this is what you're getting at but before I get any more posts like this one: Do I actually believe Kobe is better than Jordan or that everyone is forgetting about Jordan? Not at all. I don't really even believe Kobe yearns to be like Mike (maybe in his younger days). But there are two sides to the Kobe/Jordan debate: Thinking that Kobe and Jordan are their own person, or that Kobe tries too much to be everything that Michael was. The mix isn't necessarily about who is better. In Gotrare's mix, he showed the first opinion, in this mix I showed the second. But either way you look at it, the comparisons are undeniable, a message I feel is conveyed in both mixes.
All of the things on the description are for the intent and purpose of the mix, not necessarily my feelings about it. So anyone posting with the intent of converting me into the Jordan or Kobe camp or arguing how wrong the mix is, don't waste your time typing it up.
