Exclamation TP&G & Crippa's FAQ/GUIDE TO M2 - For NEW members!! - 01-28-2007, 11:41 PM

Welcome to MixMakers.net! Widely known as M2, this is your #1 site for Sports Media. If you have any sport clip or mix, feel free to share it with your fellow members here at M2. Dedicated but not restricted to sports, you can also show off your digital graphical skills in our Graphics section (Wallpapers, Misc. Display, Graphic Requests). You may also find additional sections for music, movies, games, celebrity pictures, and much more. Should you have a question, post it on the Contact Us section and you'll have it answered in no time.

Furthermore, you can also feel free to Private Message (otherwise known as "PM") me or tP&G for a complete answer. To send a PM to a member, simply click on his/her member name, then "Send a private message to _________".

However, I hope that after reading this F.A.Q., you'll have to do neither!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Points

Ever since the recent removal of the reputation (karma system), the point system served and will serve as the main reward system between members. It is a feature where points can be transferred from member to member on this site as a reward from the giver to the receiver. There is no longer any tax on the donation, so however many points you give will be deducted from your account and added to that particular member's account.

To donate points, simply click the [D] logo under the member's avatar which is next to his total points. Also, it is noted that you gain 1.00 point for every post that you make, and 2.00 points for every thread that you start and also 1 point for every poll you vote on, regardless of the section - despite what the box titled "Posting Rules" at the bottom left-hand corner of each subforum suggests.

Also, please note that rating a thread no longer yields points - due mainly to widespread abuse of this feature. :Thud:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Usertitle/Posts

Recently reinstated, there will be a little status underneath a member's username where there will be some text. This is known as his/her usertitle. For members that joined before June 2005 and for members that joined after March 2006, they will have an additional usertitle that will read as follows:

Rookie - if you have 50 to 199 posts
Star - if you have 200 to 499 posts
All-Star - if you have 500 to 999 posts
Super Star - if you have 1000 to 4999 posts
Hall of Famer - if you have 5000 posts or more

Also, you can purchase a custom usertitle in the M2 store (known as the vbPlaza)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Store

Things from the store are to be purchased with points that you have earned.

To access the store, click on the arrow that is beside the tab "vbPlaza Menu", and on the drop-down list, click on "vbPlaza Main".

A visual guideline is provided below:

Furthermore, you may use this link:

http://mixmakers.net/forums/vbplaza.php?

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bank

There is also a bank, where you can deposit your points to gain interest. The interest rate is set at 0.50% per day, compounded daily.

However, you must leave your bank free of transactions for a full 24 hours before you may start gaining interest.

To access the bank, click on the arrow that is beside the tab "vbPlaza Menu", and on the drop-down list, click on "Bank".

Furthermore, you may use this link:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Administrators/Moderators

Here are the moderators on M2:

The green ones are moderators, while the black, bolded and italicized ones are super moderators, and the lone blue one is the site administrator, LK-47.

For the full updated list of administrators, moderators, and VIP members, visit:

http://www.mixmakers.net/forums/showgroups.php?

As spankyou once said, "Don't tick the super mods off, and since they usually have stubborn minds, try not to contradict them!"

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thread Subscription

This is a nice and nifty feature that many members still do not know about. Basically, when you subscribe to a thread - you will receive notifications when there is a new post/reply in that particular thread. To subscribe to a thread, simply enter the thread, click on the arrow beside "Thread Tools", and on the subsequent drop-down menu, select "Subscribe to this Thread". You may also follow the visual guideline below:

You may also unsubscribed from a previously subscribed thread - follow the exact same steps, except it'll say "Unsubscribe from this Thread" in the drop-down menu.

To view if there are any replies or updates on your subscribed threads, simply visit your User Control Panel, otherwise known as your "User CP". Furthermore, you can also go to "Subscribed Threads" in the drop-down menu beside "Quick Links".

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Signatures and Avatars

Signatures, better known as sigs, and avatars form a big part of a member's profile on M2. Peers will regard you depending on your sig and avatar. In fact there is an entire section based on that:

http://www.mixmakers.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=55

Should you want other members to make one for you, I'm sure that there are tons of graphic (more commonly known here as GFX) artists

who will help you out. Simply make a request here:

http://www.mixmakers.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=54

To change your signature, click on "Edit Signature" on the drop-down menu beside "Quick Links", just like so:

Please note that your signature must consist only of one image, so if you have userbars, please combine it with your signature to produce only one image total (unless it's awarded to you as an M2 award back in October 2005 - such as the one supermod KF3IG has).

Furthermore, your final sig must be no bigger than 550 pixels wide by 150 pixels high (userbars and all other images attached included).

And last of all, you may only have a maximum of 3 lines of text underneath your signature.

There are no other exceptions to these rules.

To change your avatar, you will have to visit your User CP, then on the left-hand column, click on the link where it states "Edit Avatar", as such:

Please note that the maximum size of your avatar is to be 80 by 80 pixels or 19.5 KB ,whichever is smaller (unless you're a moderator - then you're allowed 150 x 150 pixels). Also, be advised that you will be unable to upload any moving images - still GIF's are fine.

Buddy/Ignore Lists - NEW!

This feature lets you either add a member to your very own Buddy List, or have him ignored. Having a member on your ignore list will mean that every post made by that certain individual will be made invisible to you. Whenever they post, you will see their username accompanied by the option of removing them from your ignore list.

The Buddy List allows for a quick access to a PM to particular members, or to check their online/offline status.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Quick Links - NEW!

On the right side of the taskbar at the top of your page, you will see "Quick Links". Click it to activate a drop-down menu, and the following contains a description of each option in the aforementioned menu:

Mark Forums Read: This will label all the new, unread posts and threads since your last visit as "read" - meaning the removal of the bolded thread titles, as well as resetting the unread posts and thread count that can be viewed on the forum index.

Open Buddy List: Click this button to have quick access to all the friends you have added to your Buddy List - to check their status, or to send them a private message.

Edit Signature: For a quicker way to edit your signature, click this link that directs you straight to your signature editing box - for more information, see "Signatures and Avatars".

Edit Profile: To edit your date of birth, your email adress, or your biography, clicking this button will take you there.

Edit Options: Click this button to edit your member options, such as Thread Display Options, Date & Time Options, and Miscellaneous Options.

PM's: Clicking this will direct you to your private message inbox, where you can view new private messages, received by other M2 members, or you can delete old and unwanted PM's, to make room for more. (Note - up to only 50 private messages can be stored in your inbox & outbox combined).

Subscribed Threads: To view threads that you have subscribed to, click here for the latest posts on each thread - see "Thread Subscription" for more information.

My Profile: To view your current profile, click here. See if you have made any mistakes while editing your signature or your biography, which can be edited in the Edit Profile section of your member options.

Who's Online: This lists the name and the currently activity of each member and guest visiting M2 at the particular moment. It is a very practical way to check who is viewing your current mix, thread, or graphic you made. The default number of people that are on each page is 20, but you can change that by scrolling down to "Per Page:" and type in "300", for ease of view. ;)

Embedded YouTube Videos - NEW!

As of August 1, 2006, YouTube Videos can be directly embedded into a post at M2. For more information, please visit the following:

remember rookies....this site is patrolled a by a one low life who received the power to always check on your sig if it is not against the all powerful M2 rules.
You screw up, he will finally have some authority in his life to take charge :Big Smile and he'll take advantage of it.
So, just a heads up.

Honestly.....who's gonna come all the way down here? All these new members get lost easily n they never go all the way down. They go straight into that NBA clips/mixes section.

You should put this section up top of the forum.
