lets doooo it! rules for counting significant digits (aka sig figs)
1. Any number not zero are significant
2. zeros to the left of the # simply locate the decimal points
ex. 0.00123 = 3 sig figs
3. Zeros to the right of the decimal & 1st non zero digit are significant
ex. 3.0 & 0.040 = 2 sig figs
4. 100 g = 1 sig fit (trailing zeros are not significant if they are before the decimal point)
5. 100 mm in a cm => infinite amount of sig figs => exact value
When adding or subtracting, dont worry about sig figs. Just look at the number with the smallest amount of numbers after the decimal point and round your answer to the same amount of decimal places.
ex. 0.12 + 1.9 + 10.925 = 12.945 ===> 12.9 (b/c of the 1.9)
When multiplying and dividing, the number of sig figs should be the same as the number in which has the least amount of sig figs
ex. 0.01208 / 0.0236 = 0.512 or 5.12 E -1 (b/c of the 0.0236)

Damn, you guys use different words and variables than us lol.
For us it's y = mx+b
b = y intercept.
m = slope.
