ok think about it this way
you have a fraction
(n is any number in the numerator)
(b is any number in the denominator)
n/b
if 10<b<100, find what number x b = 100
example
5/6
find what number x 6 is equal to 100
(y = variable)
6y = 100
y = 100/6
ok so 6(100/6) = 100
now you multiply BOTH the numerator and denominator by 5/3
so you have
5(100/6) / 6(100/6)
500/6 / 100
250/3 / 100
now do 250/3.
250/3 = 83.33333333333333333333333...
now do 83.333333333333333... / 100
you get 0.8333333333333...

can you guys help me out with this? i need to find the limit...
lim ......... x cos(-2x + 1)
x -> 0.........x^2 + x
(as x goes to 0)
let me know if you need me to better explain the equation. thanks in advance
oh and if it helps, the answer is cos(1). i just need to know HOW to do it. thanks

well you first plug in x for zero
you get 0/0
so it means you have to simplify it
lim xcos(-2x+1)
x-> 0 X^2 + x
goes to
cos(-2x+1)/(x+1)
well if you plug in zero now
cos(1)/1
lim x->0 = cos(1)

yes L'hopital can be used
xcos(-2x+1)/(x^2 + x)
because the substitution of 0 for x yields 0/0 or infinity/infinity
you take the derivative of the top and bottom
top: cos(-2x+1) + xsin(-2x+1)(2)
bottom
2x+1
so you have cos(-2x+1) + 2xsin(-2x+1) / 2x+1
then plug in zero
cos(1) + 0 / 1
=cos(1)
the normal simplification is easier here though
