I'm taking a different approach this year.

I'm away at the moment, staying in a motel, so I don't have much money to spend. I'm throwing 20 dollars on 3 different horses, all for the win, paying at odds above 10 dollars for the win. Not sure what horses yet, I'll decide when I go to the bar at lunch time tomorrow.

I'm hoping for a win.

I've lost a fair bit on this race the last 3 meets.

Dads made nearly a thousand off his mates horse but I havent bet.
To me its just 2 days off work.

im liking moatize to win, its a long race and her last race shes dominated the end stretch, if the track was longer, she would have killed it. melborune cup is a long track

also it always seems to have pretty bad conditions on melbourne cup so im also putting money on a heavy horse used to training in wet conditions assuming the weather tomorrow, dunno which horse though

and the melbourne cup always anyones race so i gotta put money on the best name for the hell of it, put 5 to win and 5 to place on honolulu since im going there soonish

I wish we had a Public Holiday up in NSW for the Melbourne Cup. But I don't really follow Horse Racing, I just go by whatever I hear on the news. And its just another excuse to get pissed mid-week on the first Tuesday of November.

I'm going to agree with you guys and go with Moatize this year. I was actually planning on going to the Cup with a few mates and just drinking basically all day but a few of them pulled out so it's just a barbecue and drinks at home.

Hopefully he gets up though. I always put $100 on every Melbourne Cup and tomorrow won't be any different. It's the one day where I can gamble and not care about consequences, haha.

Should be a great race though, for the first time I'm actually really looking forward to it.

I've got 10 dollars on Mad Rush (favorite), 10 dollars on Master O'Reilly, and I put 50 on Barbaricus.

Mad Rush will give me nothing in return (in terms of what i've bet), I'll still be down. Master O'Reilly will have me up by around 30 dollars. I'm hoping Barbaricus can pull this through, at the time of betting I would have a return of $560. Not sure how far his odds will drop or rise at the moment though, but from what I see he's looking good for the longer race. He's got a good record.

I ended up going 25 to win, 25 to place on both septimus and moatize, i should have bet on Barbaricus though, thats who my dads thinks is going to win, he's a genuis at horce racing
