x2, I'm the exact same way right now.

I forgot to also add, it seems in all of us taking a cynical approach that we forgot an even worse alternative than "bandwagoners". What if no one cared? What if someone of Michael Jackson's talent and popularity died, and it was a 5 second spot on the news. It was just a "oh...he died", and then continuing on with our daily lives as if someone told us they just finished brushing their teeth.

In the least, I can say that at least we show some humanity and grace by recognizing a man, with as many flaws as he had, and to pay tribute for the good things he did and the way he shaped a huge part of many of our lives: music. I can only hope someday people will look past my many flaws as a human being and be able to recognize the positive qualities.

Sorry for the sappy post...

I agree with you on some levels Crippa.

Like damn me and my family, and most of my good good friends, have listened and loved Michael Jackson our whole lives. I mean damn in my room I have the "Beat It" doll LOL, I've actually been out and purchased all his cd's, (well my dad did, had most of his ish since I was like 7), still got my t-shirts and hats from his concert we went too.

And then all of a sudden he dies, I heard his album sales were going up, and I thought..why are people buying his albums just because he's dead?

I could spend all day explaining it but it can really be summed up in one sentence. People on a whole are fake.

It's just a respect thing but I'm not too sure myself.

I'm a true Michael Jackson fan though, I practiced the moon walk when I was younger and I listened to a lot of his songs, and I was really looking forward to his new album coming out soon and this new tour.

Michael Jackson inspired me to be a pop singer, he's my idol.

because as soon as somebody dies, all you have left of them is your memories (also their work if they are an artist)
and without knowing it most people exaggerate the significance of the memories (or work) because thats all they have left
