Hello everyone.

I've made this topic recently on BasketEvolution. It's a complete of all of my work since I ve started mixing in 2003. I've decided to make this thread, because I'm absent since 2 years on forum, but I keep slowly to work on Michael Jordan : Legendary. And on 2 years, a lot of new members are arrived on differents forums, and because my mix are often heavy files, they're difficult to share and to find.

As I don't speak really english, I've translated the major part of the following text with a translator, so I'm very sorry if it's not perfect and if some parts are not really understandable.

So You will find in streaming and Download the whole of my mix and trailer. For each one, I told a little bit of my experiment, put information on the achievements. That will not interest little to be not all the world, but I found sympathetic to make share all this experiment to make an assessment.

Basketball's highlights vol. 1 - The Lords Of The Ring

Date of release: November 2003

My first mix, 2003, 6 years ago. At the time it is just a test, I went from a period where I was drawing or even regularly and I had just made a lot of learning on 3d studio max. But a loving touch while graphics I wanted to try video editing. So what better way to mount shares of basketball being a fan of the NBA.

To restore the context of the time, I had the ADSL 512k recently, Forums like NBAevolution, mixmakers, clublakers etc. should not even exist in any case I do not know any website with videos on NBA . com there were only ersatz action in quality than rotten. So has the time, with emule, napster and other type I dl the first clip highlights and all kinds of basketball, dvdrip in poor quality of Michael Jordan, and highlights of young Lebron in high school in St Vincent .

To achieve everything I chose Adobe Premiere 6, no a priori, but I did not use consumer software such as Pinnacle Studio, and I did not even know there was Windows Movie Maker built into Windows. For music I started on a remix of "Ante Up Busta Rhymes , captivating and gives sin. Then at that moment I was back in the "Lord of the Rings" (hence the title of the mix), big fan of music, and there was this music over the trailer of "Two Towers" (release late 2002) I managed to get me and I listened loop, oh a little music to become just the most used in the history of mixmaking I speak obviously of Lux Aeterna by Clint Mansell's remix of the theme of Requiem for a dream. I speak deliberately because there will be a time of controversy about who used this music for the first time but I would return.

Sequences of early music, early assays, but no color correction or cropping, some tests of effects, but already some research on sync music / actions.

I'm just running with my buddies. I'd be happy with the result that time, but did not necessarily have to redo later.

Basketball's highlights vol. 2 - Ring.Power

6 months since my first test and nothing in between. So why make this little mix without much contention; Well just for the fun of mixing the music (this is also often the case with my music inspires and motivate me). Also I had dl "NBA Showmen of Today" a documentary with beautiful images and good quality for the time. The music from the trailer of the first tlotr , the Fellowship of the Ring:).

Basketball's Highlights Vol. 3 - Enter the Matrix

Motivated, after that little mix, I start directly after this third mix, and this time inspired by Matrix, and now I begin my first big mix (+ 10 mins). Many ideas in his head (the intro, the wink was Michael Jordan) and plenty of footage found on the right and left on the web.

Technically, I am dealing more broadly with the intro logos created in 3d Studio Max, and I spend a long time to realize the intro, the mix of the intro movie and pictures of basketball, I create even sound effects sound for this intro. This is my first approach in a "movie" format with intro, end credits. I can say that I was very pleased with my intro and the chaining with the first music mix.

The challenge has been to try to vary the sequences interspersed by "Jordan" moment to the mix does not seem too long at look. This mix is my favorite among my 4 volumes of BH for the choice of music, and intro. Yet still not broadcast on the net, still no NBAE or no mixmakers , or else to my knowledge at that time.

Basketball's Highlights Vol. 4 - Requiem For A Dream

2005! The beginning of the "real" adventure for me with NBAEvolution.com ...
The fourth mix, I began in November 2004, I performed the first part and the beginning of the 2nd, then first loss of motivation, I dropped and put aside the mix ....

... until mid-February by chance, looking for videos of slam dunk contest 2004 I came upon a forum (nbaevolution) with a section devoted entirely to the basketball mix and on which members post clips and footage of all kinds.

Following I discovered, Mixmakers,net, clublakers and other large forums that have video and mix section. And I also discovered other great pioneer of mixmaking, vincentda, Vcbs, Hangtime, LD2k, LS09, Highflyer15 ... Remote with lots of new footage I take the 4th vol. BH, with a programmed output on NBAE.

For this 4th volume, because it will be widely distributed on the net, I'm training for the first time in the teaser trailer and adoring myself good big trailers as American can do them. I should also be among the first to do so early to systematically trailer for my mixes.
I reuse the music of Requiem for a Dream, with the desire to achieve a much better than Volume 1. Then there will be controversy when I post this mix on mixmakers, saying that I plagiarized the music of Vcbs and its mix of "Fear" on MJ. But I quickly put things to the point by explaining that I had already used this music, I do not know Vcbs nor his mix which was dated October 2004.
On a technical level, for the first time I touch the frame of all sequences to do something clean and really work on the effects of color on the last part of the mix.

Finally, with this mix and support NBAE and those members that get a reputation early on Mixmakers.net or it is never easy to win reputation.

The Legend Of Michael Jordan

Act. I: The Prophecy

Here we are, TLOMJ the mix and the project that will know and recognize me on all forums. After BH 4, which was already a long mix, I start looking for a new theme. There will be a mix on top of the Big Shaq, I started editing, it's called "Domination" but I have aborted the project, wanting to get into a big thing on my idol, Michael Jordan.

Still as a fan of the SDA and the job of Peter Jackson, I want to make mix constructed in the same kind. The style is epic, with plenty of music in this style after the lotr or another. And most importantly, what I did not make it just a series of Highlights of mj we all know, I really wanted to show his rise, his great battles against the Pistons, the Knicks and others and all these facts significant.

I'm doing an overhaul of 3D logos, seeks a kind of graphic for the entire project. I pass in Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5 and this time I'm working on framing, and for the first time, editing the colors of all sequences, saturation and contrast primarily to provide a more clean and bright in images. The mix is composed mostly of musics film, still chose to stick to the chapter and at the time of the respective moments of MJ. It will be one of the big advantages of TLOMJ, the musical choices.

The trailer is enough anecdotal compared to that of BH Vol 4, it only serves to announce the project, and I am sure of my aim with this mix, the final mix that speaks for itself. it went well on NBAE, mixmakers or elsewhere, it's my first big box, full of positive comments, that's good. My name is known:), and everyone encouraged me and wants more.

Act. II: The Chosen One

Date of release: June 2005

One Month between the 2 mix only. I remember having trouble finding the beginning, how to start the mix, and finally instead of act 1 that starts slowly here we enter immediately into the final battle of 1991.

Nothing interesting about this mix, I am continuing the act one, everything is just more rhythmic as it is the first threepeat of the Bulls. I especially chosen with care the music used on the conference finals in 1992, to bring out the physical struggle and rivalry with the Knicks.

The mix ends with a rather dramatic with the announcement of the withdrawal of Michael's basketball world

The mix will work harder on the forums and discovering those will also want to see the first, the mouth works, and members want more:)

3rd act starts with a little flashback . From the beginning I wanted to note that this is the most spectacular and longest of the series because it is the apotheosis of MJ's career. There is no dead time between the different chapters, so it goes fast. And this will be my first test with After Effects in the mix with the effects of shine on the assays for example, or the effect Matrix 13'01 or passage Bulls-Jazz, 1998 to the 12th minute.

I worked the concatenation of music to this mix and I'm pretty happy. This time, it ends with the announcement of the second withdrawal of MJ, but was not as dramatic second part, as a result are not the same, here is the point (almost) a final fabulous career. And I love that pictures on the jersey in the locker room that evokes many times that they turned a page and definitely MJ not ever play again as Bulls jersey.

This mix is one of my best yet so far I think. Besides the criticisms that will be positive and it really mix it with the respect that I get on the forums and found us making the best parties of the time.

Act IV. The End Of All Things

Date of release: September 2005

The final mix of this project. Nearly 5 months of job that ends with the release of this one. Some feared that as in the first 3 act I show a component in Jordan 40 years which still exploits ... but with no win this time. I do not want either. I just choose to beautiful music, trying to find beautiful images, and pay their last tribute to the best player of all time.

The last part, the last chapter, or I leave the standing ovation for his final exit, with background music from Return of the King, this passage from the beginning where I began this project I had in head and I wanted to finish like that, on this goodbye.

And much more , mix very well and most members have appreciated this way just to pay their last respects quite simply end. And then also ends for me this "adventure" TLOMJ.

Kobe Bryant - Slicing Like a Blade

Vince Carter 'Mental Disorders'

Here is my mix the most controversial. Lovers of film, I wanted to mix this with me as close as possible to a movie, seeing that this mix we have the impression of watching a movie. At this level I think it succeeded, but in reality it's avery average basketball mix.

With hindsight I must admit that it's one of my mixes basketball the least successful passages to the Nets are very average and basic. For the "story" and the staging I have a lot of fun in any case is true. And the theme is one of my favorite mixer who inspired me, with its mix vincentda's gotvinsanity on VC, and I confess that in this mix he uses film clips of the Ring, U.S., where actors watching TV and this TV is little to see on VC sequences. This inspired me greatly to the sequence of the camcorder.

This sequence is thanks to her that the mix will go anyway, because the effect of camera + music chosen for the switch to "Raptors" catches well the rest of the mix. It was the passage where I was most inspired elsewhere, and some cut off the passage to the office from other forum. Epic Glory - Revolutions

20 Years of Dominance

Date of release: July 2006

In early 2006, I have no real plan in mind. Then the idea of a version "long" of TLOMJ comes to mind. Modeled again and again on the job as Peter Jackson, and the long versions of the Nda. I then launched into this new project, with the 4 basic acts. I create new chapters on passages that I skipped, and I extend the duration of some other chapters or other changes completely. The project is running, it will take me time and give me a lot of problems have many causes technical problems and codecs.

I also decided to make a real DVD, with menu and chapter points etc.. The achievement will be very laborious especially on the finalization of the software "Encore" which was crash at each record,

Finally, the DVD will be released in early July, the sharing will be difficult due to the size of the file (an iso 4.5GB). The comments are finally enough praise for the whole job done on this DVD. For some, I know that 20 yod is the best mix / project conducted on MJ, but personally I remain on my hunger, "because of all the problems I had at the achievement of short and I know that I could better do. That's why I started MJ: Legendary in fact.

Dwyane Wade. I. The Rise Of The Underworld

After a short break to me in July, the Heat's victory in the finals gives me a new subject about Dwyane Wade. But this time, after my technical problems incurred during 20yod, I really want to go to another level in terms of achievement.

The new plugins Genrarts I unearthed and I migrate on Premiere Pro 2. New style of music, invent a new fiction based on the character of Dwyane Wade and again vampires. This mix shows the first conference finals against the Pistons and the exploits of Wade.

I worked thoroughly for the first time the visual environment on this mix thanks to new effects plugins GenArt including the famous glow. I like also the choice of colors and really gets off reworked in this way whether the images or video images of basketball. It is also in this mix the first use of "shake" effect earthquake during the chorus to mark out the spirits.

The mix will work well but will be mitigated through to the sheave, or atmosphere, but the choice of music, especially for mixing video / basketball that some will not appreciate at all. And I must admit today that critics labeled me, but me especially swell was blocked, and motivated to make a follow that put everybody agrees ... ;).

Dwyane Wade. II. The World is Mine

Date of release: November 2006

And to bring all peoples agree, I made this one on the finals in 2006. The world is mine, The mix for some, my best at least for others. I had taken account of previous criticism for not repeat mistakes. And it worked, not of metal music, no video or crossover. That epic music again, the big sound and a big achievement.

A quality footage of the finals in 2006 with gorgeous images and a perfect scenario with the Heat led 0-2 and wins the final 4-2 with an unstoppable Dwyane Wade. It's a mix that I took more pleasure made, very inspired, it remains today the most spectacular mix I made. It was also the first time I used After Effects with all full of new effects, the intro, the assays done with AE, lightning at the dunk DWADE of the effect a little matrix on the dunk to finish Wade with the U.S., or the appearance of Kobe at the end. Another success and despite 21 minutes of the mix is never weary in looking I think.

I wanted to hit hard after the mid-failure of previous mix, this one is my biggest success on board as well as on NBAE Mixmakers or it will exceed the 100 comments, where only guys like mixtapelive did. I succeeded with this mix out transcribing the show and what the NBA finals that are especially with a player as DWADE and that's much more to this mix.

Kobe Bryant - The Tale Of An Epic Era

8 months between the trailer and History Defines the output of this mix. Several months during which I had set aside mixmaking project, more in mind. The birth of "The Tale Of An Epic Era" is actually quite simple: It was just the desire to use music "loves Ghost Score" by Nightwish. Music in perfect epic style over 10 minutes.

And the performance style was a challenge, so I'm already in chapter Bulls / Suns 20yod to know how to use different themes, melodies and rhythms of the music to "tell" the story, but this time an entire career. Here's how was born this mix, sometimes it's very simple. The coating: the history, the book, the HOF, it's all coming in after completion.

This mix is my job the most successful at any level, there is no big effects as in "The world is mine" but the finish is flawless I thought. This mix will also a box on every fofo up to "The World Is Mine", but some choices will not unanimous, as does pass very quickly tripled the Lakers but I explained to put the 'time:).

Michael Jordan - Legend (Teaser)

In early 2008, I have a lot of new music that I want to mix, a lot of new footage of very good quality on MJ, I pass on Premiere CS3, I'm great progress since 20 yod, then I I embarked on a new project on Michael.
