San Fran's Tim Linecum won the NL Cy Young over perhaps the more deserving Cardinals pitchers Adam Wainwright and Cris Capenter. Carpenter actually received the most first place votes but Lincecum had the highest vote total.

Now no doubt the guys is a freak and I would start him if I needed a win, but which of these pitchers seasons would u take if you voted for Cy Young

Player a - 17-4, 2.24 ERA, 1.01 WHIP, 144 K's
Player b - 15-7, 2.48 ERA, 1.05 WHIP, 261 K's
Player c - 19-8, 2.63 ERA, 1.21 WHIP, 212 K's

Sammy Sosa explains his new "bleached skin" look to Cubs employee...wtf??

http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/chi-08-sammy-sosa-nov08,0,7519658.story

Sammy Sosa (http://www.chicagotribune.com/topic/sports/baseball/sammy-sosa-PESPT008519.topic) tells friends he is comfortable in his own skin.

But a widely circulated photo of the former Cubs slugger makes his skin color appear several shades lighter.
*
"He's not trying to be Michael Jackson (http://www.chicagotribune.com/topic/entertainment/music/michael-jackson-PECLB002548.topic)," said former Cubs employee Rebecca Polihronis, who talks frequently with Sosa.
*
Sosa was photographed recently during an appearance at Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas.
*
"He is going through a rejuvenation process for his skin," Polihronis said. "Women have it all of the time. He was surprised he came out looking so white. I thought it was a body double. Part of (the photo appearance) is just the lighting.*

"He is in the middle of doing a cleansing process to his skin. The picture is deceiving. He said, 'If you saw me in person, you would be surprised. When you see me in person, it is not going to seem like the picture.'

"People who saw him in person did not react the same way. He can't believe it is such a big deal."

Polihronis, the former Cubs Care/Community Relations manager for the team, said Sosa told her he has used moisturizing treatment at night on his face.

"He has always been concerned with the way he looks," she said. "Probably just bad timing going to an awards show."

Among the possible side effects for some laser skin rejuvenation methods include discoloration of the skin. The treated area may become lighter or darker in appearance.
*
"He was doing a dermatological skin process after years and years (of playing baseball) in the sun," Polihronis said. "It did come out looking weird (in the picture)."*

CLEVELAND (AP)—The Cleveland Indians (http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/teams/cle/;_ylt=AsW3rx51VzZ6bYdWd.a69nepu7YF) hired Manny Acta to be their manager, giving him the job about three months after he was fired by the Washington Nationals (http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/teams/was/).
Acta signed a three-year contract with a club option for 2013, Indians spokesman Bart Swain said Sunday. Additional terms were not disclosed.

“I am very excited to become part of the Cleveland Indians family,” Acta said. “I look forward to working with this talented group of young men who seem to possess a lot of energy and passion for their work.”
The Indians chose Acta after a second interview over former New York Mets (http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/teams/nym/;_ylt=AtrjZc8UWk96MR1AaGsegVOpu7YF) manager Bobby Valentine and Indians Triple-A manager Torey Lovullo. The team had been expected to interview Dodgers hitting coach Don Mattingly this week.
“We are very excited to have Manny Acta on board as our major league manager,” Indians general manager Mark Shapiro said in a statement.
“After speaking with an impressive array of candidates, we feel that Manny is a very strong and experienced leader who possesses great energy and enthusiasm along with tremendous communication skills and a positive mindset that will command a presence in the dugout, clubhouse and with our fans.”
The 40-year-old Acta, who was drafted by the Astros as a 17-year-old first baseman, also interviewed for Houston’s opening this offseason. The Indians will introduce him at a news conference Monday.
Cleveland tied for last in the AL Central after coming into this season with high expectations. The Indians fired manager Eric Wedge in the final week of the season.
Acta went 158-252 in 2 1/2 years with the Nationals, who fired him after a 21-61 start this season. The Indians, though, dismissed Acta’s poor record and appreciated the way he developed some of the Nationals’ young players.
“I believe we will grow together as a team,” Acta said, “with the ultimate goal of bringing a championship to Cleveland and its fans.”
