Playstation 3 abilities? (windows, msn, internet)

What can i do on the playstation 3. I heard you can run Windows, use MSN, and log onto the internet. Is that tru.

and can i use it like a PC, thats basically what im asking

and my question is why the hell would you pay 660$ to go on msn :WTF:. these are just gimmicks man.

big selling point for the PS3 is that the PS3 generation is suppose to last 10yrs.

ok first of all not windows cuz microsoft is the enemy lol u can run linux. and yes i think u shud be able to go on the internet if u got linux, nut besides that its a refular gaming console.

yes it does have an internet browser on it, but im not sure wat kind...nd i dont think it has windows

if not, get a 360

a non-ps3 blu ray player are almost a thousand bucks!!!!!!

but i doubt blu-ray discs are gonna last 10 years.... the capacity on a disc gets bigger every year.... 650MB, 700MB, 4.7GB, 8GB, Blu-ray discs hold 50GB and TDK made a blu-ray disc that holds 2 freakin hundred GB!!!!

i dont get it. PS3 is better because it has blue ray? does the larger amount of space mean longer gameplay or something?

nah just more gig means they can fit more **** inside a game. for e.g. the more gig they have on a disc, the more room they have enough to use those megabites on graphics, A.I, bigger cities/areas (for free roaming games) basically everything.. thats why when u play Fight Night the graphics are SICK! coz most of the megabites are all used in only on those 2 boxers inda ring, but for GTA its different coz its a big ass area. they gotta use the megabites more on other things other than the players coz theirs alot more, dats y da graphics it aint so good.

You actually think that they use all 4 gbs on a DVD already? Shoot, half the games come with movies and soundtracks and stuff on them. Heck, in Madden 2005 collector's edition, 1 DVD contained the game itself + all of its modes, about 5 additional movies about the making of the game, 5 or so tutorial videos, the 20-30 song soundtrack and a classic version of Madden.

Now, anyway, both consoles have hard drives so if there's extra content you can get, you can usually download it off the net and save it to your harddrive.

And why do you want to use your PS3 as a computer? For $600 you could have bought a brand new top of the line PC, high-speed internet access, a really sick video card and like a 200 gb hard drive.
