Yeah Im wondering about this also...Im at 2.81 (shouldnt of ever updated when i had 1.5)
cuz 1.5 you could download games onto it.
But yeah i want to know how 3.0 is and if I should upgrade it. Im just thinking that when a downgrader comes out for 2.81 then I could go back to 1.5...and that will happen a lot sooner than it would on 3.0

^Props to half HAVOC^

Downgrade to 1.5

From what I've read, the 3.0 update is so that your PSP will be compatible with the PS3, unlocking all the features and shyt [watching TV on your PSP, sharing games, music, videos, etc...]

Photo

There's a lot of information in here about the Chotto Shot Camera, how to use it, and it's functionality. Here's some screens I took regarding image/video sizing:

Some of this we may already know, but I felt I'd include it for anyone who is interested in what the Chotto Shot abilities are, or what it

You can view files of the following types on the PSP™ system.

* JPEG (DCF 2.0 / Exif 2.21 compliant)
* TIFF
* GIF
* PNG
* BMP

We already know these file formats are available, but here's what was tucked under that information...

* Some images may not be viewable due to the size of the image data.
* Images edited using a PC may not be viewable on the PSP™ system.

I'm thinking this relates to our TIFF exploits, or any other exploits Sony may have found. I don't think finding a Photo exploit in 3.0 is going to be as easy as we'd like.

Music

Not too much under here, just the usual file formats.

You can play files of the following types on the PSP™ system.

* Memory Stick™ Audio Format
* - ATRAC3
* - ATRAC3plus
* - MP3
* MP3 (MPEG-1/2 Audio Layer3)
* MP4 (MPEG-4 AAC)
* WAVE (Linear PCM)
* WMA

* Depending on the data type, some data items cannot be played.
* Some files distributed over the Internet may have playback limitations. For details, contact the content provider.

Not sure anything here is new

Video

This is where things get a little interesting. As we found earlier, Motion JPG movies can be played on PSPs with firmware 2.80 and above. Seems like Sony decided to mention that now.

You can play files of the following types on the PSP™ system.

* Memory Stick™ Video Format
* - MPEG-4 Simple Profile(AAC)
* - H.264/MPEG-4 AVC Main Profile(AAC)
* MP4
* - MPEG-4 Simple Profile (AAC)
* - H.264/MPEG-4 AVC Main Profile (CABAC) (AAC) and Baseline Profile (AAC)
* AVI
* - Motion JPEG (Linear PCM)
* - Motion JPEG (ì-Law)

I'm not a wiz when it comes to all the different types of formats, but I know it doesn't hurt me when they decide to add a new one to the list. Perhaps this could be helpful in the future? In either case, it's something that will be official in firmware 3.0.

Game

Here's what the manual has to say about our beloved PSone games:

Play PLAYSTATION®Network titles downloaded from (PLAYSTATION®Store). A PLAYSTATION®3 system is required to use this feature.

First Sony promises you won't need a PS3 to get PSone titles, then they cut the supply of PS3s in half, now they're saying you do need a PS3, and you most likely don't have one! I hope "PLAYSTATION®Network titles" is something other than PSone games. Big no-no. I'm sure we'll be hearing about this one soon.

Network

There isn't much under here either. Oh, except REMOTE PLAY! Yeah, there's a few details that may make some of you wanna start bidding on ebay.

First things first:

"You can display a PLAYSTATION®3 system screen on a PSP™ system and play content that is on the PS3™ system. To use this feature, you must adjust the necessary settings on the PSP™ system and the PS3™ system."

I always knew that lovely PSP screen would serve a better purpose. Since I'm getting my PS3 tomorrow (connections do wonders), I'm quite excited.

Some more details regarding Remote Play:

A few things to cover here...

-You can control the PS3 menu from your PSP
-You can view photos on the PS3's hard drive
-You can listen to music from the PS3 (no CDs?)
-You can watch video on the PS3's hard drive (no DVD/Blu-ray)
-You can check your friends messages
