it's an addon. Don't buy it for PS3 too. It will f*ck up anything. DON'T support Nyko! they suck as 3rd party peripherals providers.

It voids the warranty to according to engadget.com

**** how ironic that a cooler burns out the plug. thats bad tho, and the 360 doest overheat anyway so why wud u guys buy it. mine justs gets a lil warm, to kinds hot, but no need for a cooler, it has its own cooling system

I know what kind of cooler you need . a cooler that is powered via usb and not by your game cord. Skippy(who's a tech head on ps3network and owns a 360) says this should work:

In the case that you've quoted, it sounds very likely that the thermocouple, (a device that controls the speed of the internal fan) is totally shot. Which in turn, is causing the console to overheat rapidly, to the point where the built in thermal cut-out is turning it off. He's gonna need a repair job to put that one right.

And the blame for that, lies fairly and squarely with the intercooler. It's a basic design fault with quite a few of them; they're trying to blow cool air, into the same vents that the console is trying to expel warm air from.

With the net result, that the two opposing fans allow a static pocket of warm air to build up inside the console. And given enough time, this warm pocket of air starts to get very hot, causing the thermocouple to put even more effort into working the fan fast enough to get rid of it. But of course it can't do that, because the intercooler's fan is countering it's efforts. And before too long, it's 'kerfluey', and you're left with one seriously damaged console.

If you do ever feel the need to buy a fan of any sort for a console. Buy one of these, but don't use it how it's shown in the photo.....

I know it doesn't look like much, but believe me, unlike the various intercoolers on offer, this one won't do any damage at all to your console. Quite the opposite, in fact. The basic idea, is that you set the fan up to blow across the rear vents, (and down the the back of the console) but a few inches behind it. This has the effect of cooling the air at the back of the vents, (without doing anything to hinder the internal fan in any way).

At which point, the principle of convection kicks in. And the warm air in the console is drawn out of the vents a lot quicker, in much the same way that a warm room, looses it's heat to a cooler room, when the door between them is left open. It's the difference in ambient temperature between the two that's doing the real donkey work, not so much the fan. And it has the added bonus that the consoles internal fan doesn't have to work anywhere near as hard as it normally would, so there's less wear and tear on it, and it lasts a bit longer.

Definitely well recommended!

Don't know if it happens most of the time, but still, I was saying that the inter cooler is not necessary for the 360 and would not really help, and might really be worse for it...

u kno wat u can do.....buy a little floor fan....it may cost the same amount as the intercooler...and place the fan behind the 360...and turn it on...and it will work the same way almost..lol

word. that's 400$ down the drain because M$ won't accept it even though you have the warranty

this is what happens when we use unofficial licensed peripherals.
