Is it just me or is this game looking a lot like Halo? Not that that's a bad thing but I'm just saying.

Probably just you. Check some vids, this is an RPG, with walking around and talking to people/aliens, an actual co-op team game (Halo just put in another Master Chief), you have "Mass Effect" powers (like the "Force" in Star Wars)... it actually game-wise is a lot like Star Wars KOTOR (cuz it's made by the same guys).

I guess it's like Halo cuz of guns + aliens.

I was mainly focusing on these aspects of the game and the overall "set-up" with the alien enviroment,the tall "tower-like" buildings and those haloish guns.I don't have the slightest idea of how this game is playing wise so I can't even compare the two at that department.

Never played it? It was one of the best games I've ever played, in terms of gameplay, fun, storyline, everything
