NPD: PlayStation 3 is selling better than the Xbox 360

It seems that NPD, a sales tracking firm, has said that the Sony PlayStation 3 is selling better than Microsoft's Xbox 360. Interestingly enough, the sales figures in the US are still showing that the Xbox 360 is outselling the PS3.

NPD made their analysis based on the figures of the Xbox 360 during its release. To quote their exact words were "figures show that the PS3 is selling slightly faster in the US than the Xbox 360 did at the same stage in its release". So that means that in the same time frame, the PS3 has actually sold more units. Is this a sign of things to come or simply an initial surge of sales because of the hype?

Regardless, if what NPD is saying is true, then Sony will have to do something to keep this momentum to achieve market dominance (a title the Xbox 360 is currently holding). In the meantime, we'll stay tuned and see if Sony will be able to maintain their spot on NPD's charts. More news as it happens here on QJ.

Damn sneaky sneaky yungflo, making me think the PS3 is now selling better than the 360, which it's not.

It's selling better in it's first few months than the 360 did in it's own first few months... that's because M$ put barely any systems out due to their worldwide release, while Sony had the majority of systems in the US, and these are US numbers. I couldn't find a 360 anywhere until April.

Xbox 360 was in scarce supply for the first few months after release whilst PS3 is readily available anyway, so its pretty pointless to compare them in that sense. Besides, the Gamecube and Dreamcast had great launches too...

well DMC4 is commin to 360, ps3 exclusive ff13 MIGHT be comming over. if that happens..sony is fukked.

FFXIII wont go to 360, the most likely thing would for it to go to Wii. Because FF's original platform was the NES.

Exactly.. I got lucky and saw that Wal-Mart was having a New Year's sale for them and went with one of my friends and got it right at January 1st, 2006.. Missed the New Year's show, but I don't give a ****.. I got a 360.. :lol:
