Process of installing Custom Firmware onto ur PSP - 01-31-2008, 07:07 AM

For those who arnt already using the wonders of custom firmware...here are the steps to essentially unlock the full capability of ur psp!

Step 1:
u need someone with a psp which already has custom firmware...
this is because u need already hacked psp to make a "pandora battery" and memory stick combo for u to use

heres the process on how to make a pandora battery:

http://www.mypsp.com.au/GuideDetail.aspx?id=225

heres a vid showing the process:

note: for psp slim owners it is slightly more tricky making the pandora battery and memory stick... ive only personally dealt with the fat psp's, but search youtube for a guide to using pandora battery and mem stick for psp slims

if all goes well, after using the pandora battery/mem stick ur psp should be on 1.5 firmware!

Step 2:
Now we simply install custom firmwares... basically u gotta install 3.50m33 to 3.71m33 to 3.80m33 (which is the latest CFW) a very detailed step by step guide is found here:

http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/569454

btw site has all the files u need to download for updating

Step 3:
If all goes well all u need to do now is simply download sum homebrew and umd ripped games. Games u can get off torrent sites easily, homebrew u need to do sum searching although generally i like using this site:

http://www.psp-hacks.com/category/7

My personal favourite homebrew apps:

PSPTube (youtube and other streaming vid sites on ur psp!)

Pimp Streamer (view/watch/listen all ur pictures/video files/mp3s off ur hard drive ON UR PSP!) - note u need wireless network

i use this app all the time, why be restricted by ur sony memory stick when u can view everything thats on ur hard drive lol

emulator wise almost everything is emulated:::
nes, snes, n64, ps1, cps1, cps2, neo geo, atari etc.....

SO YES U WILL HAVE UNBELIEVABLY MORE FUN ONCE U INSTALL CUSTOM FIRMWARE

other stuff i havent mentioned yet is installing themes that basically completely change ur XMB...
example:

also if u dont know anyone that can make a pandora battery/mem stick for u then u can always use ebay as a llast resort
