January NPD sales numbers: Sales CRASH

- PS3: 269K 528K (66%)
- PS2: 264K 836K (76%)
- DS Lite: 251K 2.22m (90%)
- PSP: 230K 830K (78%)
- Xbox 360: 230K 1.03m (82%)

Whoa. 360 sells the least in January, PS3 is up there! But look at the sales themselves, everything dropped big in sales and sold in the 200-300K region. Sucky month. Terrible.

Microsoft said 360 had shortages, which I noticed too. When I went to stores I saw only the Arcade 360 and no Premiums or Elites.

They do market research and stuff, no idea what it stands for. Their numbers here are like the official sales numbers for North American sales

Used to be National Purchase Diary, but now it's just NPD - it's no longer an acronym.

North American is the only place in which the 360 was still outselling the PS3, so if these numbers are indicative of a change in consumer trend, it seems the PS3 has taken a global lead over the 360.

i bought a ps2 the other week so it should rise for february since im probably the only person that would buy one

no ****, i thought everyone would have had one by now since it came out about 7-8 years ago. i only bought it for a few games i cant get on pc and i cant be bothered installing games and using up space on my computer

I don't think they're indicative of anything. There was basically a 40,000 unit difference from first to last on this list, plus there's PS3s all over the place while Wiis and 360s are in short supply due to the strong demand and huge sales in previous months.

No one wants the cheap Arcade version of the 360 I hope

I read somewhere that Microsoft said that this is sony's year. their gonna sell the most consoles and other sony appliances.

im thinking about adding a ps3 to me collection...most people have a 360 thats whhy they have dropped the most.
