Bad review? Do you still buy the game -

How influential is a review of a game on your purchase decision?
I gotta say that for me it is important, If a game gets a review over 9/10 average and I wasn't gonna get it.. I will most def look into buying it..
Or if a game I was looking at buying gets a average review or a bad one I probably will not buy it.
An example is the new James Bond game, It is using the COD4 engine and thats a good thing but apparently it has only a 4 hour single player and the multiplayer is average, slower than COD4 and with no perk or nothing..

it depends, if I've followed a game since it was announced, and watched like every little preview video of it, and i think i will enjoy, i really dont care what rating it gets from other people. But when i read multiple reviews, and they all seem to complain about a certain feature. eg assassins creed being repetitive, il think twice about getting it.
Also if i wasnt particularly interested in a game, and it gets a sick rating, i still probably wont buy it, or ill wait like 3 months and pick it up off ebay

It really depends. Usually with sports games that come out every year, if they were good the last year, then I will buy them the next year no matter what the review or anyone else says. Like you said though, there will be some games I won't even think about getting, but then I see that it's getting good reviews, so I look into it more.

Reviews play a part for me, but I won't base my purchase solely on it. Everyone says that 2k9 > Live 09, but having not playing any 2k's before I wouldn't know and from what I've played at with with Live 09, I found it good, so I bought it. The way I think is that everyone's different and no one person will have the same tastes as me, so what they say may not apply to me.

Well I bought Superman 64 for 30 bucks back in the day lol, but I had no idea it was such a bad game so that doesn't count :P.
Nah I usually wait for a review of a game before I buy it, unless it's something I know 100% I'll enjoy like NBA 2k9.

I take reviews very seriously before I buy a game. If the reviews are horrible I try out the game before deciding to purchase it.

I don't bother with reviews. If I had the previous game before it (e.g NBA 2K8) then I will usually get the next one or if I play a game at a friends house or something that I like I will go and buy it.

I don't really read that much into reviews unless its about NBA Live / NBA 2K. That's the only reviews I really read into, the rest I'll just choose for myself on my own view of the game.
