Game Prices in Australia - ****!

Ok, I just speaking with a friend from here about Video Game prices. I was curious to see how much games are worth overseas

Batman: Arkham Asylum

(All rrp and current Exchange Rates)
Australia EB Games : 119.95AUD or 71.67USD or 109.03CAD
US EB Games : 59.99USD or 71.67AUD or 65.11CAD
Canada EB Games: 38.89CAD or 42.81 AUD or 35.82USD

Now that is a huge markup, Tax, whatever, shipping because we are isolated whatever its crazy...

And they wonder why Piracy is so high. My game is 3x more expensive than if I bought from Canada.

If anyone has a better understanding or reasoning to WHY Australians would pay so much more, please enlighten me.

Oh, and I am sure there are other countries with heaps cool pricing like ours too..

Crippa and I once had a convo about this. He actually buys his games from a store that sells them just cheaper then the USD price. I was shocked. I almost asked him to ship me games.

The store was called somethingHD. I dont remember

There was this big thing on Gamespot AU last year about the high prices of games in Australia, I think it is BS that EB and Game expect us to pay those prices, I usually just go to JBHifi, although they sometimes are still pricey compared to overseas.

Yeah Eb are rip offs to the max, because the game has plastic on it and like a week return policy its worth $40 more, i think Eb price match now anyway i know game does.

Don't ever get games from EB games. Ever. It's the worst shop to purchase anything from, everything there is so ridiculously overpriced. JB Hi-Fi is where it's at, and that's where I get all my games from. Fight Night Round 4 was $79 at JB, and at EB it was something around 100 dollars.

They (EB) just rip you off something shocking.

i remember years ago EB games use to be really good but now they just completely suck ass, at jbhifi you can find good games for really cheap and thats where i get all my games from. Even at jb the games are a little overpriced after you see the prices on american sites but most of them wont ship them over to australia so we dont have much of a choice.

The advantage of EBGames is that they will price match the JBHiFi price.

im pretty sure high prices of games in Aus has something to do with our geographical location. Also, when the AUD is high american games obviously are cheaper, a few months ago when the AUD was around 65, game prices were about the same.

the best thing to do is buy games from amazon.com or play-asia.com
