Does anybody feel disappointed with this generation's sports games? -

As a big sports game fan myself, I feel slighted by the "next-gen" experience. I remember when I first got my hands on Madden 2001 (when ps2/xbox was "next-gen") and how I played the crap out of it. How it seemed so detailed to me, chain gangs, refs, players could run into the refs and knock them down. Players could run into goal posts and walls and fall down. I remember dynamic attendance. I remember being completely consumed in the experience.
Madden 2005 and NFL 2k5 were the pinnacle of sports gaming. Both of those games had maxed out pretty much. Both with deep game modes and options, solid graphics and gameplay. NFL 2k5 had amazing presentation. NBA Live 2005 was the best in the series. NBA 2k5 was coming along (but trailing behind slightly). Dynasty and Franchise modes were deep with lots of features. Madden had the newspaper and radioshow. NBA Live/2k had magazine sponsors in their games. Training drills, etc.
Then we got to next gen. NBA 2k6 and Live 06 were pretty poor, feature lacking, rushed attempts. The only thing they aimed at doing were showing off sweat. Madden 06 was the same. It didn't even have alternate uniforms. wtf??
Remember this?
WTF ever happened to that? I remember seeing that and being stunned. Now we're on the 5th offering of each sports game and look at the progress we've made. Madden is still struggling to get in features from last gen, it took NBA Live 4 years to put out a decent basketball title, NBA 2k is riddled with glitches and a bunch of minor issues and the servers suck. Instead of games getting better, they just keep adding more and more crappy features. JUST GIVE US THE OLD STUFF BACK FIRST.

Like TMac, there's nothing to appreciate. He's terrible but a lot of people around here still think he's good, but he's awful.

I agree with some of your points, the glitches in some of these games are absurd
NFL games took a turn for the worst once EA bought out the NFL
Baseball games used to be better. I remember MLB 2k3 was one of the deepest sports games I've ever played. There is nothing that has a franchise mode that deep on today's market. 2K's baseball games have gone downhill since 2k3. Yes we have MLB The Show but still it's not quite as good as it could be.

EXTREMELY.
NBA 2K has been the only series that has gotten better in the next generation. NCAA Football hasn't been any good since '05 on the old generation. It's been the same thing every year on the next-gen systems. Same glitchy, BS gameplay. Just new gimmicks and features year after year. We want good gameplay first and foremost. I mean, really, how does it take a year to add a couple of new features like Road to Glory? How do you get that little work done in a year? It doesn't make any sense how the gameplay NEVER improves. It's ridiculous.

I completely agree bro.. games in the past I could play forever and never get tired of them. It just seemed like the older console games had better all-around quality then the games coming out today do. I think the creaters are concentrated souly on graphics, rather than a great gaming experience.
Some games that I really loved playing in the past was..
NBA Inside Drive 2002
NBA Live 2005
Madden NFL 2005
Need For Speed 2
..some others but I can't think of them right now..lol.
Also, there's only one game that I can honestly say that every year it has came out has been a complete success.. and that would have to be the FIFA series. Period.

I think some of it has to do with the fact that, as we grow older, our attention to detail increases, and we start picking up on the little glitches more, and we become more pedantic with the little details that we never took notice of in the older versions.
But i agree to an extent, these days, it feels like companies are so focused on the visual aspects of the game that they leave behind other parts

definately, i played more of Madden 06 the day i got it then i have played 09 and 10 all together and for the last couple of years each game comes out with a bunch of new and different features 99% of which i really couldnt give a flying **** about......i hate to mention this again, but Madden not coming out on PC is a horrible decision by EA and one that has ruined the madden franchise for me for the past 2 years

I agree with everything except for...
NBA Live 2005 being the best of the series.
ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! That game ****ING SUCKED! Live 03 was awesome, Live 04 was out of this world, Vince Carter did the dunks simulation, fun **** to do.
Then Live 05 comes out with CRAPPY ASS FRAMERATE ISSUES(ps2 only, xbox was sweet).. and it looked like you were playing with mini little *** constant lagging *****es. I HATED that game.
Live 2004 was the best, so silky smoooooooth.

You're wrong, in both Live 03 and 04 defense was ridiculous. You couldn't steal the ball from the ball handler but blocking was EXTREMELY easy. 05 was better, but 04 was good too. But seriously, I can't recall ever having as much fun playing a videogame as I did with 2K1 on DC and 2K3 on Xbox....
