So for the past 4 months or more my PS2 has been broken. Well...I woke up this morning and decided that maybe I'm going to do something about it today.

First of all, I wanna check and see if this problem is fixable without getting it repaired somewhere. So, I tried playing my NBA 2k6 one day and it didnt work...it would just stay on that first black screen and it said it couldnt read the disk...so I figured that the disc was just scratched and i need a new game. But then my madden, NBA 2k5, NBA 2k4 and March Madness 2k5 all didnt work. But then I put in my SSX tricky and it worked fine and I played and all was well:WTF: :WTF: :WTF: anyone know what the problem here could be?

Question2: Lets say I wanna get this thing repaired...where should I call and send it? Do I call Playstation? or should the local videogame store such as gamezone, gamespot or ebgames be able to do it? I just wanna get this thing fixed cuz I've almost forgotten that I even have it.....

Any help would be great guys...adios

id say get it fixed at game spot..thats were i got myn fixed...i had tha same problem and i used this cleaner that cleans tha inside of ur ps2...if u use it once a week for 4 weeks ur ps2 will wrk alright but only for awhile...tha best suggestion is 2 get it fiexed at a game store or ask them for something that might solve tha problem....hope i helped

Cant be the laser if it plays Tricky, or maybe your PS2 is tired of you using sports games on it. Hm. IDK. Really weird tho. Call the Sony hotline and maybe they can help you. Should be free. Either that, or contact them via their website.

i say call the eb games store, if they donno what to do about it and cant fix it, go to the other 2 stors tat you said..but I donno man..its really wierd, i've never heard of a problem like that one..or just maybe wherever you bought it from..tell them to replace it for another one if you still have the bill or w.e..because just tell them its always been liek this..you never used it..

see under the video game cd's...are they different colors?? if they are then maybe you can only play one of the colors.....if their isnt then defiantly take it to a local video game store..that would be easier than mailing it to the playstation 2 headquarters

Anyway, to fix it, don't send it to Sony, they'll charge a lot, try a gamestore, or IM me on AIM and I'll give you a screename of someone I know who can fix PS2's, repair them, and mods them, and sells them modded. He'll tell u what the problem might be, and tell u what parts u might need to replace buy, and give you an estimate on how much it'll be to fix it. Just remember, he's not in NYC, so you'll need to send him your PS2 by mail. He'll send it back after he's done.

man this **** happened to me and i brought it to gamespot and they couldnt fix it and i ended up having to buy a new one smh...they said since it couldnt play a lot of games anymore that it was toast and worthless. they said it was to old and this will happen to ps2's when they get to old. but it depends when you got it...me, i got it 3 months after it came out in 2001..so its old. evenstually your ps2 will stop playing a lot of stuff if its that old. i just got a new one..

i had the same kinda problem, except mine wasnt fixable.when ur ps2 gets a certain amount of dust in the disk reader it just toally collapses and doesnt wanna work anymore. mine got so much dust inside of it for 4 year that it just toally collapsed and i just got a new 1

I also had the same kind of problem, but I had to get a new PS2..

What I think is wrong is that it isn't reading certain discs.. 'Cause there are two different discs for games on the PS2.. The ones with the blue colored bottom, then the one with the black colored bottom.. So one of the disc readers is broke, and the other one is working fine.. That's why SSX Tricky worked..

Now, I don't know what exactly you should do.. I found a local console fixing place, but he couldn't fix it so I had to buy a new PS2..
