seconds, but missed both. However, the lasting image from this game had to be North Carolina's Eric Montross who took a couple rough elbows to the face and looked more like a boxer than a point guard as he sank two late free throws with blood streaming down his face.)

Randolph Childress is unstopable and scores an amazing 37 points, he also has the famous crossover on Jeff McInnis that makes McInnis fall down and then waves for him to get up before nailing the 3 pointer. Tim Duncan and Rasheed Wallace also have big games.

(Rasheed Wallace & Jerry Stackhouse lead UNC past Kentucky)

- 1996 UNC vs Duke
(Duke took a huge 37-20 lead late in the first half and held a 12-point advantage at halftime. Carolina trimmed the lead to two, but the Blue Devils rebuilt an 11-point lead with 8:44 left. The Tar Heels charged back as Shammond Williams's three-pointer pulled UNC within one, 72-71, with 58 seconds left. Duke turned the ball over in front of its own bench, and Williams forced a jump ball near midcourt after a scramble. Possession: Tar Heels. Jeff McInnis dribbled the clock down, then drove the lane and dished to Serge Zwikker on the left. Zwikker's shot is blocked by Greg Newton, but Dante Calabria tipped in the deflection off the glass for a one-point UNC lead. Ricky Price's baseline jumper was short at the buzzer as Carolina escaped with the win.)

(One of the best games of the year. Cincinnati is the overwhelming #1 team in the country with player of the year Kenyton Martin.
Quentin Richardson and Depaul have the lead the entire game until a turnover leads to a DerMarr Johnson game winning shot.
Quentin Richardson hits a miracle game winning shot from half court but the refs rule he was a couple tenths of a second to late.

- 2003 UNC vs Duke
(While Raymond Felton needed stitches and North Carolina coach Matt Doherty took a shove from a Duke player, the Tar Heels were the team left standing. North Carolina ended a six-game slump against Duke, beating the 10th-ranked Blue Devils in a game that had a little bit of everything. With 8:17 left and the score tied at 63, Duke's Dahntay Jones bloodied Felton's mouth with an elbow.
Then as Felton was being helped to his feet by Doherty, Blue Devils assistant coach Chris Collins began to jaw with Doherty. Duke reserve guard Andre Buckner came out of the huddle and pushed Doherty with two hands to the chest. Doherty went back at Buckner and both teams began pushing and shoving as the officials and Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski tried to restore order. A 30-footer by Jones that would have tied the game came just after the buzzer sounded. The officials watched TV replays to confirm the late shot as thousands of fans stormed the floor at the Smith Center.)

(North Carolina, trailing by nine with three minutes left, staged a furious comeback, topped off by a three-pointer from freshman Marvin Williams with 17 seconds left that capped an 11-0 game-closing run. Like most Duke-Carolina games, the contest wasn't over until the final horn sounded. After Duke's J.J. Redick missed on a three-pointer that would have won it for the Blue Devils, teammate Daniel Ewing had a chance to be the hero, but he too missed and Carolina's Sean May, who finished with 26 points and 24 rebounds, leaped high in the air for the carom, cradled the ball in his hand while the clock ran out, then hurled the ball into the stands. The win gave UNC its first ACC regular-season crown since 1993.)

(North Carolina wins on a questionable traveling call with only 11 seconds remaining. The Tar Heels were clinging to a 66-62 lead when Randy Foye was fouled on a jumper with 17 seconds remaining. After making the first free throw, Foye missed the second but the Wildcats grabbed the rebound and called time-out. Off an inbound pass with 11 seconds remaining, Allan Ray got the ball on the left wing and drove to the lane. It appeared that he was fouled on a made basket, but it was waved off because Ray was called for traveling instead. Rashad McCants scored 17 points and Marvin Williams added 16 for UNC. Randy Foye had 28 and Kyle Lowry 18 for the Wildcats)

(Badgers put up great fight but can't keep up with eventual champs at the end - Alando Tucker had 25 pts for WI - Sean May 29 pts and Rashad McCants added 21 for UNC)
