L.A escaped with the victory in a tough 72-71 decision in game 1. After a 4/19 shooting performance, Kobe knew he had to bounce back.

And that's what he did, in a spectacular way, carrying his team to a 98-84 victory over the Rockets. KB scored 36pts including a wild reverse lay-up vs Calvin Cato.
"That was a nice move," O'Neal said. "He got bumped in the air and didn't even look at the basket. He did the Jordan-type move in the air."
