[H4L] Venom's Editing Tutorials (AE, FCP, Premiere, Etc) - 11-02-2009, 08:56 PM

So I have been wanting to do this for a long time, probably a year now. I get a lot of questions from members, asking for advice how to do some things with editing programs. So I figure I would make a few video tutorials whenever I get a chance, and post them for you guys.

I'll go over After Effects, FCP, Premiere, Soundbooth, and other programs. I'll go through beginner and advanced tutorials. And go over the basic concepts of video editing to produce cleaner end results.

I wanted to start really simple, so here is a short video about how to apply Vignette Blur's in AE. I really suggest downloading the tutorial, so you can watch it in 1080p. If you have any questions, or ideas for future tutorials. Just post them here.

Nice job man, really clear and easy to follow tutorial. Thank god you made this after the contest though, I would've looked like a huge copycat with my blue vignette blurs since now everyone's gonna be doing them. Or maybe not, because this section is so secret that most won't find these tutorials. If they do and you manage to revive this sub-forum I might have to continue my tutorials. No way I could compete with your sexy voice though.

I hope you can keep this up, good luck.

Yeah no problem, I'll make a tutorial in a day or two. But essentially you using a codec that doesnt compress video that well. And you have to make sure the audio setting is checked for audio to be rendered. I'll show you in the tutorial later, good suggestion.

Hah, you're probably right. This section is so dead I would imagine only 20 people have seen this. BTW I loved the blue vignette blur you had going on in Anticipation. Real nice "dazzling" touch. I even almost PM'ed you because I thought about just posting my tutorials in your tutorial thread, since we're going over similar programs. But in the end I was lazy and just made a separate thread. We can always merge the threads later if we wanted.

It would be great to see you drop a tutorial every now and then. Especially text, I suck with text. And sexy voice? I hate my voice. I'll take your sexy text skills anyday over my voice. Anyways thanks, I'll keep trying to post new tutorials.

And just as a side note to those watching the tutorial. Try experimenting with different effects on the adjustment layer. For instance, in Figment of Imagination, I added a tint. So the vignette was B&W and darkened. It was a cool touch against the vibrant red CC. But just experiment with your own style. Use radial blurs, glows, etc. Copying me won't make you better. But using the knowledge to your own advantage will.

FINALLY!
Thank you Venom, now I'm probably going to understand AAE!
I suck at AAE and it's very confusing for me to do anything there, like xKKSNMX stated, I don't get any sound when I render either and pisses me off. The next tutorial, could you show us how to make sick intros or is that dinoman?

New tutorial up guys. It details the entire process that goes into exporting out of AE. Ask questions here if you got any.
