El Orfanato/The Orphanage

Watched this last night in theatres and I have to say I was utterly impressed. Horror films were starting to become a genre that created no emotion and showed no life as of late. This movie however is nothing like that.

Ripping techniques from old school horror films, this one manages to actually scare you instead of making you laugh like most thrillers nowadays. Sound effects and editing are superb for a movie of this kind and that's why the movie is completely worth the money to go watch it in a threatre. It's a completely different experience.

Definitely recommended for anyone, from the casual movie fan to the film elitist.

Saw it tonight with my gf, here's what I though:

- Didn't know it was a Spanish movie until it began :S, but I actually enjoyed it a lot. The subtitles didn't bother me at all.

- Great idea, story line, actors were terrific, even the little kid.

- Had moments where I was more scared than my gf, on the edge of my seat.

- Amazing finish, twisted and un-expected, all the mysteries glue together in a small moment and it's great too watch.

9.5/10, awesome stuff


I really think this is one of the more genius horror's ever made, highly recommend.
