Looks entertaining enough, but I think it will lose steam as the year goes on. But here's the problem with ABC, Fox, NBC, and network TV. There is a lack of commitment to developing new enticing shows, and the concentration is on repackaging old successful shows and giving them a new twist. ABC hit a gem with LOST, so what do they do after a year of low ratings? They go on a sci-fi binge to try and recreate the magic of LOST. First Flashforward, now V. Look, I get it, both shows are alright. But nothing groundbreaking. It's just producers who like money, so they make shows that they think people will like by seeing what worked the last 5 years. It doesn't hurt that ABC recasts actors from LOST into both new shows either.

I want NEW shows, with new development, with new stories. I don't want repackaged regurgitated TV shows. Do they think the audience is blind? We can tell when a show's concept has been made before. But creating a new concept and thinking outside the box risks too much money, so they hardly ever do it. Most of the audience accepts the garbage TV shows on air, and it's a vicious cycle that spins out of control that spawns worse and worse programming.

And like I said earlier, I like flashforward, V looked good. But just because I like those shows, it doesn't mean they are what I want. I want new edgy programming damnit. If I want LOST, then I'll watch LOST. GIVE ME NEW PROGRAMMING!

Thank you, I now step down from my soapbox.

I agree 100%. But its so hard to think of something new and original and for tv companies to give them a shot

Huh? Are you serious? It's not very hard, I just used 3 paragraphs describing why they don't make new concept shows. Because they are more concerned with the dollar, than quality tv. Plenty of networks are dedicated to producing great series. HBO and FX are prime examples, always making great series, drama or comedy. They hire a dedicated staff who is willing to work hard and sacrifice to make a good show, and the networks trust them to deliver.

It's not hard to come up with new good shows, if you have the passion to make good shows.

That may be the case in the U.S but over here (UK) They dont really care about the story, plot etc just who is in it and if it will make them money. Hence why we import so many american shows campared to how many british shows get shown in the states

You can't expect shows like Lost to be popping out every year or so. That is why people are still obsessed with it 5 years after, because it was something special and innovative. Innovation doesn't come often.

I don't expect great new shows to pop out every year. I just want networks to try to make great new shows, opposed to taking the easy road and just recreating popular shows. It's just a bad path. Look what happened to reality TV. As soon as one network made it popular, everyone jumped on board. Simply because you can make more money, while it costing less than producing a TV series. Well, was reality TV a good era in TV? Heaven's sake, no.

I don't expect great original ideas. But I do expect them to try making original ideas, fail, and try again. Like I said, look at HBO and FX. When 60% of your shows are original, groundbreaking, and captivating, you discovered the right mold for a network. I don't want networks recreating shows, but rather recreate the environment in which a great series was created from.

I guess I just spent way too much time studying and reading about this in school, and it just ticks me off more than it does others. It seems 80% of the world is cool with it, and that's why networks do it. Sorry for getting way off hand, this thread is about V, not about how crappy networks are. But at least for an instance there was some argument/discussion in this section.

This is pretty nice to watch but for some reason I can't seem to be able to put it on my "Great new TV Shows" list. It's a nice watch but that's as far as it goes for me.
