Plot:
An adaptation of Maurice Sendak's classic children's story, where Max, a disobedient little boy sent to bed without his supper, creates his own world--a forest inhabited by ferocious wild creatures that crown Max as their ruler.
Review:
We all know about the trailer. It's probably one of the best trailers ever made, if not the best. I can't think of any trailer that surpasses it. The question was, can the movie live up to the hype, and I think while others may disagree, I think it does. First thing I need to mention is the story. Now if you go in expecting it to be exactly like the book you are probably retarded. Probably at least. This movie makes the story seem more modern and a bit more realistic in a way. It presents it in a much better form for a movie. Now in this film it doesn't actually imply that this is his imagination, it leans more towards you deciding whether it's real or not.

Now for the acting, I thoroughly enjoyed Max's (yes the main character is actually played by a kid named Max) performance. It was extremely realistic. The way he acted in the film was perfect, not to mention it was extremely realistic. Well it was for me at least since he reminded me of myself when I was a kid (Minus the "FEED ME" part). The voice actors were brilliant, keeping it realistic and most of all sounding normal. The directing seems normal at first but once you see it again you notice all this stuff and it makes you appreciate the movie even more. All in all, it's a great film and I will be seeing this again without a doubt. Just after I see This Is It.
Casting/Acting: 10/10
Max was amazing in this, and the voice actors made it believable.
Sound/Music: 10/10
Loved it. Just the sounds, the music, everything fit in and always did it right.
Story: 9/10
Got a bit slow at points but I found it to be still a great story.
Art/Design: 10/10
I'm nitpicky about Art/Design being a former art student myself. I could find nothing wrong with it. I saw it again tonight and I still could find nothing wrong. Everything was perfect.
Directing: 9/10
Sorta felt like nothing special, sorta standard directing. But that was the first time I saw it, the second time I saw it I noticed all these little things. Without a doubt this is Jonze's best work.
Final Verdict: 9.5/10
One of the best films of the year. You will definitely see this in my top 10 come December.
I'll probably do Paranormal Activity next. I'm too lazy to write a review of that atm so meh.
