My expectations were lowered with every leak cause those were mostly commercial, shallow songs (Chillin', Pretty Girls). He did deliver on the album though, it has a lot more serious tracks and the many guest features don't really bring this album down either since it's mostly R&B artists (and real good ones at that) doing the hooks and Wale can't sing for shit lol.
He kills it on 90210, real deep track. Matter of fact the whole second half of the album is where Wale gets serious with 90210, Shades, Contemplate, Diary and Prescription.
K'naan feature is dope, J. Cole feature is dope. It's just too bad there's tracks like Chillin' and Pretty Girls on there.. World Tour is kinda commercial too but it's the type I can dig esp. with my favorite R&B chick Jazmine Sullivan on there.
Overall, I'd say it's a real solid debut for Wale and if I were to rank it, I'd give it 7/10. The 3 bonus tracks (incl. Artistic Integrity Pt. 2) could possibly lift it up to a 7.5, can't wait to hear those.

Co-sign. Great debut album. I just gave it my first full listen and there was never a time where I was thinking "Damn, I'm not feeling this track" or "I'm about to skip this sh it" I've enjoyed every single track on this album so far. Some more than others of course, but I'm definitely feeling it. This is a quality album, as I expected it to be. Like cklitsie said, when I heard some of the singles, I thought the album might be more commercial, but then he released Ice & Rain which got cut from the album and I knew Wale was going to go in. That track is serious, and for it to get cut meant there had to be some real good sh it on the final release.

I just realized that Chillin and World Tour are different versions on the album. The first hook on World Tour is taken out, and on Chillin, the GaGa verse has the main beat, and then she has another line at the end that wasn't in the original.

Yeah, I knew for sure Chillin' was different. I thought World Tour was too, but I wasn't 100%. It was a pretty enjoyable album. It continued to get better throughout, IMO. CK pretty much summed up my thoughts (although I enjoyed Wale's more commercial shit too).

Yeah, I like his commercial stuff as well. I've been a fan of Chillin ever since the demo leaked last December. I don't feel like GaGa made it better or worse. She just gave it a finished feel. World Tour is a great track. The only thing I question is putting Gucci Mane on Pretty Girls. He sounds like an 80-year old man. It was better without him.

From the first time I heard Wale I have never been that into his music, I dunno what it is, I think its the way he uses Alliteration, his patterns, the way he flows or his rhymes (or lack of sometimes). It just sounds off....
Also half of the time I'm like WTF is this guy talking about, he tries to be all complex and uses different rhyming patterns and replaces rhyming with alliteration... It seems like he just wants it to sound a certain way instead of it making sense..
I just look at the tracks with K'naan and J.Cole. They are so much more clearer and don't sound like they are just writing stuff that rhymes or words that have the same first letter, instead they actually say something.. IMO they definitely outshine him big time...
I'm still listening to the album though, this is just my initial impression, but it is a good album without a doubt (some great sounding tracks), I just gotta see if I can understand what he's talking about sometimes..

Beautiful Bliss. J. Cole and Melanie Fiona are on it.
I'm loving this the more I listen to it. I think his second album will really be something epic, because he won't be trying to make a name for himself. All the tracks will be legit Wale material, not commercial attempts like Chillin. I like Chillin, but it doesn't hold a candle to half the stuff on the album in regards to actual substance.
