Re: Jazz fan confronted Fisher, verbally threatened him and his family

I've heard and read many things about Jazz fans and Energy Solutions Arena and this doesn't surprise me. I've even read an article from a Salt Lake online news site where the columnist basically talks about how the local fans should be loud and positive toward their own team rather than focus all that energy towards being negative to the other team. He basically berated the negativism propagated by the fans. Remember that guy Delaney had to eject during the Rockets-Jazz series in primetime? The doctor (or was it dentist), no less? Well he's back. This is from SI.com: (http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/200...e.3/index.html)

Quote:
• You no doubt read about the Jazz fan -- you don't need to know his name -- who was ejected by referee Bob Delaney from a first-round series game against the Houston Rockets. It certainly didn't cause him to re-think his behavior, not that anyone expected it would. Sitting directly behind the basket at which the Lakers were shooting in the second half, the guy pulled out more props than Gallagher. With Bryant at the line, he waved a blue Jazz flag that almost touched the backboard. (Shouldn't that be illegal?) Then he waved a rubber chicken on a string. Next time Bryant was at the line, he upped the class-less ante by waving a doll a string bearing a sign that read Kobe, not room service again, a reference to Bryant's legal troubles of several years ago. Then he finished up by yelling into a giant megaphone. All I could think of was Tiger Woods backing off a putt because someone two fairways away hiccupped.
Apparently the fans in Utah are, for lack of a better word, rabid! With their words and actions and everything! I remember the Spurs getting pelted with chapsticks or whatever last year in the playoffs after the Jazz lost. You need some really thick skin to play there. Even Bucher got in trouble because he made a joke about how it's because they're mormons and so don't get a chance to go wild or vent if it weren't for Jazz games. However, to be slightly fair though, Fisher did enjoy the homecourt advantage all those fans gave him when he was on their side. Now that the shoe is on the other foot, I doubt this is a big surprise for him. He just probably didn't think they'd go as nuts on him since he was a Jazz player for a little while.

*sigh* I'm pretty sure that's a reference to LakersGround... The most immature, g&y website on the internet for basketball fans. And this still seems widely unfounded to me... Where's a REAL link?

Pretty rude and naive for the Utah fan to say such a thing. Put yourself in Fishers shoes and it would be tough to do, having to play for your team right after you are with your daughter who has cancer and knowing she could potentially die at any given time. I honestly give him credit for being able to do both.

on loan? fisher was with the warriors. Derek Fisher was acquired by the Utah Jazz on July 12, 2006 in a trade that sent Keith McLeod, Andre Owens, and Devin Brown to the Golden State Warriors.
