I read a comment from Ariza's agent that indicates that discussions with the lakers aren't going anywhere, and he will probably sign with another team.

Artest isn't staying in Houston. They offered another year, he wants long term, he's gone. Might go to LA or Cleveland.

Trevor Ariza is on the verge of ending his tenure with the Los Angeles Lakers. With at least five teams pursuing Ariza, the Lakers are currently unwilling to pay him more than the $5.6 million mid-level exception.

"They're letting him go," one of the sources said.

The Rockets, Clippers, Raptors and Blazers are also showing interest in Ariza. Portland and Toronto could each offer more than the mid-level exception.

Cleveland can offer Ariza the MLE.

Artest. Ron wants to play on a championship contender and he loves it in LA. I wouldn't be surprised if he signs for the MLE. He could probably get more somewhere else but it won't be a winning team.
