When healthy? Yao Ming no questions asked. Aside from help defense and offensive rebounding Yao does everything better than Dwight.

Yao is a better player, especially he's better at offense, but 1 on 1 - Dwight would win. But I guess I have to pick Yao on this poll as the best center in the league.

I'll go with yao. Offensively he alot superior obviously. Defensively he's not that bad at all.

Um excuse me, Yao ****s on Dwight Howard in the head to head matchups

Here is proof, Dwight has never outplayed Yao in his career

Shaq should not be mentioned in this conversation, he's an awful player. Don't get me wrong he was the most powerful center to ever play the game, but now he sucks. And how does Howard play like a bitc*h. 9 Blocks in one game, 20 + rebounds? His offensive game is not fully developed, but he is a monster defensively.

Honestly, I would rather have Dwight Howard on my team.
Who's a better offensive center, I would have to say, Yao, with his post skills, but think about this for a second.

A guard that cannot shoot will not excel on a team that has a large center that clogs the lane, Dwight Howard has the ability to move around with the speed of a forward and put back missed shots. I have never seen anyone block and rebound better than Dwight Howard did in the playoffs.

Howard has to develop more than that one running hook that Ewing taught him. He really has to develop a jump hook like Shaq had back in the day and than he might be the most unstopable player in the league.

well im sorry but how many times have we heard this? "He just needs to develope his offensive game" or "Imagine if he only developed his offensive game." People have been saying this for 5 years now, since he got into the league, and during those five years the only thing he's taken any time to develop is a right handed spin move? gimme a break. Maybe in another 5 years he might develop a 10- footer... Maybe in another 5 after that a left handed hook shot. really Dwights offensive game is a complete disappointment. His fundamentals are absolutely terrible. He catches the ball and brings it down, below his waist, EVERY TIME, prone to getting stripped cuz hes going for a big dunk. he still hasn't learned to catch the ball hold it above his head, like say a Pau and Yao Ming do. He takes no time to perfect the only part in his game that needs work. His free throw percentage is bad, he cant be relied on late in the game.

Unlike Yao he's lucky to be surrounded by 4 other all-stars, thats how he made it to the finals. If Dwight played on the Rockets it wud be a first round exit again, and i doubt they wud make the play-offs.

In terms of Defense yes Dwight is the best, but not that much, Yao still avg.s a highly respectable 2.0 bpg, which is adequate considering his offensive arsenal is better than any center in the league. (Al Jefferson is second).

Overall i would take Yao

Nah, if dwight got to play with defensive players like Artest and Battier, the rockets would be unstoppable. The rockets won 2 games easily against the lakers without Yao, the magic would've been blown out every game against the lakers if Dwight didn't play.

And surroudned by 4 other allstars? What team are you watching? half the regular season and playoffs he only had 1 other allstar and a rookie starting with him. If you want to count turk as an unofficial allstar, i will give you that. So that's 2 other allstars. Nelson was hurt during regular season and was only a shell of his former self when he came back for the finals. Anyway, there's a reason the magic had 3 other potential allstars and that reason is Dwight. They're the ones lucky to be playing with him, get it right.

You're obviously just hating... Not make the playoffs if he took Yao's spot on the Rockets? Yeah... ok. You can hate him now, but if lebron doesn't win next year and he leaves for the knicks, you can thank Dwight.

Here are highlights of the Magic-Rockets 2nd matchup of the 08-09 season. Yao vs Dwight. Yao dominated him.
