Too bad you're overlooking the fact that the biggest thing in Yao Ming's career isn't his dominance or his skill, but the fact that he's so injury prone. The fact that he's always going down when it's crucial that he stays healthy. The fact that in the last 4 seasons, 3 of them he's managed to play in less than 70% of the regular season games and has been as low as 58%. His foot is still broken, and he is still listed as indefinite.
We get it - you love Yao Ming. But when you can't make it through a season healthy, when you go down in the playoffs in the most crucial, important series of your career... well, it's hard to call you the best.
If potential is your thing, cool. I'll take the guy who gives a performance all game long over the guy who plays stellar off the bench for 10 minutes a game.
Grant Hill isn't a top 10 player of all time because of his potential when healthy.
