Sources: Turkoglu, Blazers agree -

Quote:
Hedo Turkoglu has reached an agreement in principle to become a Portland Trail Blazer, according to sources.
Although a verbal commitment may be announced sooner, the terms of the contract cannot be finalized until Wednesday, after the NBA informs teams what next year's salary cap will be.
The Orlando Magic's recent trade for Vince Carter, who has a large salary and plays small forward -- which is Turkoglu's position -- made it highly unlikely Turkoglu would be back in Orlando.
The Toronto Raptors expressed interest, but that was constrained by their other efforts to keep Shawn Marion and Carlos Delfino.
Turkoglu, a 6-10 forward from Turkey who played a prominent role in the Magic's recent trip to the NBA Finals, had been looking for a five-year deal in the neighborhood of $50 million

YES! I'm so glad this deal happened! It gives the Blazers a third scorer who can handle the ball pretty well and will make his teammates better and not to mention take away some pressure from Brandon Roy. This deal will make the Blazers a contender in the very tough Western Conference. I just hope it doesn't take away from Brandon Roy's all star status.

Well it was expected, I think he'll bring some leadership there, take some load of Turkoglu. Hope the Blazers can get back to the PO's next year, and hopefully T-Mac will be healthy so they'll advance, lol. Love T-Mac though, jokes with him about 1st round are just too easy to make.

Very very good deal for the Blazers. I hoped he would stay in Orlando...ah sigh...
I liked the moves by the Orlando FO in the past, but cmon losing Lee, Alston, Battie probably Gortat and now Turkoglu and only getting some Anderson guy and Carter?? Magic definitely changed for the worse.
I think it's not far fetched to say that the Blazers are a contender in the West behind the Lakers and along San Antonio and Denver.

Definitely not far fetched. I believe that the Spurs are on the decline and with Yao's playing uncertainties, Lakers, Nuggets and Blazers will compete for Western Conference supremacy next year. Blazers is a young team and adding a veteran presence will only make them better. They've built through the draft, now it's time to take it to the next level. RISE WITH US!
ps. I'm in Portland for vacation and I'm from Canada, ironic?

I'm not saying they aren't. Hey, Blazers only lost the division by 1 game, so it's gonna be interesting.
