Allen Iverson to the Bulls?
By Dime Magazine

The Detroit Free Press, via cbssportsline, mentions a far fetched scenario where Ben Gordon and Allen Iverson are actually dealt for one another in a sign in trade (rather than a straight BG signing by the Pistons).
It’s the first we’ve heard of the Bulls strong interest in AI. Good fit? We can’t decide. Marketing wise, most definitely. The city will love Iverson. Scoring wise, the Bulls could use Iverson, but would probably rather Loul Deng step up his game. Speak up Chicago (and everywhere else):
Well, don't know, just a rumour, just wanted to throw it out. Obviously BG is with the Pistons now, but he hasn't signed the contract yet, so they could make him sign with the Bulls and then trade him for AI.

That would be a ****ty move for the Bulls. The last thing they need is that cancer whining about wanting to be a starter on that team, because there's no way they're benching Derrick Rose for AI.

No need to bench either though as AI would return to his more natural SG position.

Then he'd go back to being one of the biggest defensive liabilities in the NBA. AI guarding VC, Danny Granger, Dwyane Wade, Joe Johnson, and Ray Allen would be interesting to watch. The Bulls would be better off moving Salmons to SG and putting the returning Luol Deng back at SF. Iverson is over the hill anyway. He'd be best utilized in a 6th man role, like Jason Terry was for Dallas last season, but his EGO is too big for that.

No, it isn't. Iverson clearly stated he'd come off the bench. The problem was that he got like 15 MPG and had guys like Will Bynum getting more playing time than him. He won't have a problem coming off the bench, getting 30 MPG like guys like Manu and Terry do.

Iverson on the Bulls?
I can see it now already.
"Iverson wearing his headband in Bulls games, defying the Bulls Organization..."
When asked why he is doing it, Iverson had to say.
"It's just a headband we're talking about just the headband.."
"What did Malcolm think, split second 'fore he was shot?
Did he think to hit the deck on the floor, before he dropped?
Or did he just say "fluk it, I'ma die for my brothers"
'Cause by killin' him, just made his words teach others"
THEY SHOOTIN! NAH, made you look.

I never said that he wouldn't be a defensive liability, I just said it wasn't obliged to bench him if with the Bulls because they would no longer have Gordon at SG. Also, Gordon was just as much a weakness on the defensive end for the Bulls than Iverson is, difference being AI will at least produce more fast break opportunities with steals than Gordon does.

But expecting 30 minutes off the bench on that Bulls team is also rather unlikely, because that would mean split the 6th man minutes with Kirk Hinrich, who plays the same position but with much better defense, and at this point in each of their careers, I'd take Hinrich over AI any day.

He'll also give up more points, because as bad as Gordon was at defense, AI is worse, and Ben Gordon is also a better scorer than Iverson at this point in his career. It's a downgrade for Chicago at that position if the get AI.

QFT
AI on the Bulls wouldn't work.

That wasn't my point. I couldn't care less if Iverson was deserving of 30 minutes or not or if he's better than Hinrich or not. My point was Iverson was expecting around 30 minutes a game when he got benched. In other words, the Ginobili/Terry/Barbose role. He didn't get it, so he complained about it. Lets be honest here. That's a man who started all his career getting around 40 minutes a game, winning a galore of individual awards and you give him 15 minutes a game and you expect that he wouldn't complain...And he didn't even go through the phase of adjusting his role or see a gradual decrease in minutes. All he saw was a dip of 25 minutes a game and the likes of Will Bynum getting more playing time than him. Anyone of his talent and amount of accomplishments would complain in that situation. Any star wing would complain in that situation knowing that they could get better treatment somewhere else. Iverson feels he can do much better somewhere else, so be it.
