A.I. almost a Clipper? -

Iverson can ponder what might have been when the Grizzlies visit the Los Angeles Clippers on Saturday. Back in July, the Clippers seriously contemplated offering him a one-year contract paying up to $4 million so he could be a “Vinnie Johnson-type” player, a source with knowledge of the talks said. Denver Nuggets assistant Tim Grgurich, who was considered for a job on Mike Dunleavy’s staff over the offseason, also strongly recommended Iverson to the franchise.
The Clippers, however, were concerned about how Iverson’s addition would affect the development of second-year shooting guard Eric Gordon, along with other chemistry issues. The Clippers cooled on the idea after Iverson told Dunleavy in a phone conversation that he would have a serious problem with coming off the bench.
The possibility of signing Iverson became a dead issue once the Clippers acquired guard Sebastian Telfair and swingman Rasual Butler. But had A.I. been fine with coming off the bench, he could very well be with the Clippers now.

Haha funny picture.
But yeah, if Iverson wanted to come off the bench, I bet at least 5 or 6 teams would've wanted him. I just don't get it with the guy. He wants a special relationship with his coach, but he hasn't even talked to his coach. He talks about winning, but why go to Memphis then? He has been through as many struggles as anyone in the world here, I read the book "Only the strong survive", and I just don't know it with him. He could've been someone special, at least go to LA or Cavs or Celtics and trynna get that ring.

We can't blame Andre Miller for being the new guy. We can't blame Brandon Roy for wanting to pick up where things finished a year ago. We can't even blame Blazers coach Nate McMillan for dabbling with so many combinations that the players look confused, especially after he lost his starting small forward late in the preseason. If Miller and Roy are still struggling to play together in December, you can start talking trade of the new guy. And if McMillan continues to dabble in a way that prevents the Blazers from finding comfort, we can begin the dialogue about whether he's the right coach to lead the team into the future.

LeBron James told ESPN's Chris Sheridan that winning a championship is more important to him than signing a maximum contract.
James will famously hit the free agent market after the season.
"I think at the end of the day, a max deal or anything like that doesn't really matter to me at the end of the day. It's all about winning for me," James said.
"So I've put myself in a position that when that day comes next summer, I want to win, and if I feel like the team is capable of winning, I'll make my decision like that."
If LeBron considers signing with a team for less than a maximum contract, as unlikely as it may seem, the 2010 offseason could change drastically.
The Cavaliers can offer James the most money, roughly $120 million over six years.
The Knicks and Nets also have the cap room to offer him the largest deal possible, which would be a little less than $100 million over five years.

Yeah right. If he really just cares about winning, he'll sign with Spurs for the minimum next season.

He's right.
He makes way more money than any NBA player's salary just on endorsements alone. Being on a winning team may even increase his endorsement deals.
" If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issuance of their currency, first by inflation and then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them will deprive the people of all their property until their children will wake up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered."

This is what I've been saying all along. LeBron makes so much off endorsements, commercials and all that, he doesn't need a 100 million dollar plus contract. The array of skill and talent he has and the impact that he has made on the league is one of the best. Topping it off with a championship(s) will be what he ultimately wants.
