I think he's pretty overrated. He's done one real good thing... the triangle.
Yes, he has like 9 rings, but have you noticed... he's had Jordan and Kobe. He coached Jordan for like 9 years and won 6 champs. After Jordan left, Phil was like 'I'm audi 5000 G!' then he goes to LA. And he had a miracle team. I say that because who though Kobe would turn into Kobe? So, he's always had great great players.
What do you guys think?

on one hand the number of rings tells you something.
on the other hand... why his team sucks without legendary players... why pistons have beaten them back then? and then that ****ty year without shaq.
Well, his worst years were when he didn't have all his stars. I think he never made the teams nor players. The teams and players made him.
Also, who noticed, the second Jordan left, he left. And shaq left, then he later left. But came back.
Maybe he can't handle the pressure of being on a team without stars?

and neither jordan or kobe had rings before he coached them, and jordan left because phil left, not the other way around, he had constant problems with chi-towns owner, jus like in LA when he left. he is good at taking a borderline contender to champions, but suck at everything else

Wasn't that year the year Kobe improved though? I don't think he's a bad coach. But just not as good as people say. You know?

What were Michael, Scottie, and Grant doing when Doug Collins was the coach of the Bulls?
What were Shaq, Kobe, Horry, Fox, and Fisher doing when Del Harris was the coach of the Lakers?
