The 6-4 senior from Word of God in Raleigh, N.C., is viewed as the missing piece for new Wildcats coach John Calipari.
With forward Patrick Patterson recently deciding to return to school (and high-scoring guard Jodie Meeks rumored to also be considering pulling out of the NBA Draft) and recruits like Alabama big man DeMarcus Cousins, as well as a talented core group of returnees, Kentucky is likely to be one of the favorites to win a national championship in 2010. While Alabama point guard Eric Bledsoe signed up to play in Lexington recently, in Calipari’s dribble-drive motion offense, multiple ballhandlers can play together in the up-tempo style. In addition, the recent SLAM co-cover boy is viewed as a one-and-done prospect.
Aside from Patterson, Meeks, Cousins and Bledsoe, other future teammates who will benefit from Wall’s playmaking ability include sharpshooting juco recruit Darnell Dodson, incoming freshman big man Daniel Orton and athletic sophomore wings DeAndre Liggins and Darius Miller. Long story short, don’t be surprised if you catch a case of deja vu when you watch Big Blue play next season–Wall will remind you a lot of Derrick Rose and with him on the team, Calipari could have another team back in the chip.

Wow, I don't really like Meeks, but if he stays they are definitely a dangerous team....

Wow, great news for Cal. I still can't believe he left Memphis tho, will take a while to get used to.

This has gotta be one of the early favorites. I'm glad he didn't go to Duke, hate them.

Like TMac, there's nothing to appreciate. He's terrible but a lot of people around here still think he's good, but he's awful.

How can anyone remotely respect what UK is doing right now? I'm all for winning and I guess by technicalities, your scholarship is only for one year; but you don't dump players off the team just because better talent is awaiting. I'm sure Calipari or WWW has something going with Wall's handle as well. Although I am glad to see Wall not end up at dook. He doesn't even fit with dook's system...
UK fans are the most impatient fans of any program, among other things... It's normally Final Four hopes every season (no matter how poor the team is. I remember UK fans talking trash to UNC fans earlier this past season on how Patterson would dominate...then Deon shuts Patterson down) and if you are in the Final Four, then the thought process rightfully goes to, we are here so we might as well win the National Championship. Basically, championship or nothing, rather if it's realistic or not. This season UK will go in as one of the pre-season favorites and bound some surprises in the conference or hit in chemistry, they should roll through the still-rebuilding SEC with a youth hiccup here or there. I'm curious to see how UK fans react if they fall short after a fantastic regular season well knowing that most of their team will leave to the NBA after this year.
Lastly, with all of these one and done players and those leaving early with no intention to finish college, don't be surprised when the NCAA has sanctions on UK 5 years down the road. One of the reasons Calipari left Memphis when he did (UK being the biggest reason, no denying that) is because Memphis is barely a point or two above the line where they would have had multiple scholarships taken away. Undoubtedly with the class he had coming in to Memphis, they would have well dropped below that line very soon.
Anyway, best of luck to UK. It's never easy being the favorites when your team is so young, your fan base is delusional/crap load of new bandwagonners, and the whole world watching your every move.
