Another offensive weapon to throw too for Drew Brees. Good move by the Saints. Shockey is one of the better TEs in the league (above average) as he can block well, get tons of yards/receptions, and score.

Fuck you Loomis, why'd you have to wait so long? As much as I learnt to hate Shockey over time (he used to be one of my favourite players), he will look great in the black and gold. A lot of people talk about how much this is going to boost our already strong passing game, but he can have a much bigger impact than that. Many football fans were already calling for Reggie Bush to have a breakout year on the ground, and the addition of Shockey increases the chance of that happening. I just had to throw that in there (not saying Bush is the only one that will benefit). The way Shockey is used could very well alter the way defenses attack the Saints - drag an LB out of the box, or stop a safety from cheating the run. The presence of Shockey will also allow our receiving core to shine (Meachem might prove he's worth the first round selection)? If Shockey can keep a positive attitude, and stay injury-free, this offense might be ridiculous.

We're slowly losing next year's draft however. Not that big of a deal though. Our offense seems set, and we got a lot of young talent on defense.

Giants win this I believe. Shockey isn't worth a 2nd...he's not worth a 2nd and 5th, he's probably one of the most overrated TEs in football. He's never had more than 900 yards...never had more than I believe 65 catches, never had more than 7 TDs. He averages like 650 yards per year, and 5 TDs per year. That's not worth a 2nd.

i agree with JUICE on what he said. sure shockeys numbers might not be up to the level of his status but you have to remember that giants havent been a very good passing team while he's been there. i think saints will use him more effectively and it could be a very lethal offense. now if only meachem or henderson stepped it up a notch.

Yeah but he isn't even a great blocker...He hasn't had good receiving numbers and he doesn't really like to run block.

Shockey had Eli and Kellen Clemens as quarterbacks while in New York.

Either way, I don't care about what kind of "numbers" he puts up. As much as people hate him, he can impact an entire offense. If he can help us in some of the areas I mentioned, we win on this deal. I think he's a perfect fit for the Saints. With a solid locker room and a good, veteran quarterback, I'm not too worried about his attitude problems. Plus, we needed some more toughness on our team, and Shockey brings just that. And oh yeah, I forgot to mention that in his rookie season, Sean Payton was his offensive coordinator.

^i think you meant kerry collins was his previous QB, clemens is the jets guy. ive watched a few giants game over the years and i was always impressed with shockey, we'll just have to wait and see
