Does Anyone Who Plays Basketball Have This Same Problem?
Like do you have a difficult time learning the plays for your basketball team? Does it take you a long time before you actually understand the play? Anyone know why this happens, and what have you guys done to learn the plays faster. How can you learn quicker, any tips?

Re: Does Anyone Who Plays Basketball Have This Same Problem?
I have the same problem, don't know the solution tho...I guess it's just a matter of concentration, but some guys on the team know the play right after the coach showed it...dunno, but I'm obviously gonna have to be more focused on what he's saying and understanding what he's talkin bout next time/when the season starts...

It just happens when you are just starting to play with plays and structured basketball... It took me awhile but as soon as i got used to the plays i could pick up others quickly... You sort of understand how to look at basketball that way and it gets really easy

Re: Does Anyone Who Plays Basketball Have This Same Problem?
Are you a good student in class, when after the teacher says something you understand it completely?
In College our offensive set was easy to understand and memorizing the plays that run through it were second-nature. It wasn't till the coach added press break plays, 5 inbound plays(useless), 5 baseline plays, and individual half-court plays till it became confusing. That didn't even include defensive sets........

Re: Does Anyone Who Plays Basketball Have This Same Problem?
it helps if you have a good court sense..... most of it comes naturally, it helps that you understand things quickly. there was this guy on the team that couldnt remember where to go in the layup drill, never mind our actual plays

Re: Does Anyone Who Plays Basketball Have This Same Problem?
How old are you ? or how many years u been playing bball ?
When i first started doing plays was in U14 and it was hard to learn at first. once i got to u16 they become natural, could run em after being told. so i guess its just experience in having to do it. I dont know if this well help or not but dont just think about where your spose to run or screen or wateva, see the floor and see what ur whole team is doing, then ull realize what ur running and ur spose to know what ur team mates are doing anyway. Like it might sound harder but if you know what yur team is running outside of your position it will be easier for your position. just let the game come to you

Re: Does Anyone Who Plays Basketball Have This Same Problem?
I used to learn the plays by trying really hard to memorize first of all where I'm supposed to go first. Basically I took in what the PG has to do first and then I tried to focus on the play as a whole. Then when I got it in my head I used to like sit in class when there was nothing to do in school or when we were on recess I'd take a pen and paper and just draw up the play over and over again til it got stuck. It helps alot , try it cause it might help ya.
