Is New York Still The Mecca Of Basketball? - 08-26-2008, 02:16 PM

A lot of people say NY kids have the best individual talent of anyone in the planet LOL. But in reality there are GREAT players from EVERYWHERE. Places like Chicago, Baltimore, Seattle, LA, Philly and Texas are producing major basketball talent. You can also add Ohio as well, cause after LeBron left the area started to get good basketball talent lol. Of course there are many other areas, but what do you guys think? Does ne1 think it will be pretty difficult to claim any area of the Mecca of basketball soon, because more and more places are sharing in the spotlight, gaining a reputation and contributing more to basketball in general? And people have put up the argument about New York's " I'm gonna get mines attitude" and how it doesnt translate at the team level.

BTW I forgot New Jersey, I cant forget them lol

Wichita, Kansas is the mecca of basketball...I mean, we've had like 4 guys from Wichita make it to the NBA, that's an unreal number. Legends like Maurice Evans and Adrian Griffin are from the place I call home. We go hard in Kansas, all day, every day...You gotta earn your stripes on the courts in W-Town. It aint all farms and cows here in Wichita...hell, even the farmboys go hard...Larry Bird type sh*t. You come to Wichita, you better be legit or your ass will get shut the f*k down...now ya'll know! W-Town for life!

Haha, I was joking about Kansas...Kansas is arguably the worst state in terms of athletics. We'll randomly turn out really good players and coaches though. Barry Sanders for example is from Wichita, Maurice Greene is from KC, Adolph Rupp grew up in some small town in Kansas.
In all honesty...NYC is the streetball capital of the world. I think streetball in a lot of ways is ruining basketball. Don't get me wrong there are a lot of great players from NYC, but lately there haven't been as many. Places like DC, Chicago, and other big cities are catching up.
