Don't remind me. We really fukced it up this year. We started losing at the worst possible time of the year and the thing is I don't see my team getting any better with the greek finals approaching either. Talk about a drop off! Congrats to Partizan though, they played their hearts out last night and Palacios was a monster down the stretch.

What an upset, I thought Pao would came back as they did two years ago after lossing their first three games in Top16 but it doesn't seem like a good situation for them. Partizan has been great and it's gonna be a though mathup for Tau. A lot of poeople are now happier that we don't have Pao in quarter finals against us but you never know what's better in my opinion.

You know what everyone was saying over here before the game last night? That if we managed to beat Partizan and advance to the next round Tau would absolutely destroy us. Trust me, you'd be much better off facing us. Pana is playing like garbage now and honestly our roster needs a major shakeup in the summer.

I could watch the game yesterday and there was no team game at all, I heard that everyone in Athens didn't want Tau as well but people here didn't want Pao neither. As I said, you never know what's better, Pao would have had enough team to come back and make the final four if their qualified for the quarter finals. Now Partizan is going to be a tough one, they're with all the confidence and it's gonna be hard to play in their home...the best thing is we have the home court advantage.

Talking about the shakeup, is it possible that Obradovic will resign after the season ? Or is too early to say ? Maybe finish of Greece championship will answer all questions ?
To be honest, Panathinaikos should have beaten at home by Siena. Team was struggling all TOP 16. Problem is then you have such a talented teams in all ways, you believe that guys will start playing when it counts. Saras, Diamantidis, Batiste, Becirovic, Spanoullis, Dikoudis and so on. However, basketball is still about TEAM and passion to win
Talking about positive things I was quite impressed by PERPEROGLOU performance vs Siena. It seemed that he had something to prove.

Linas Kleiza is amazingly single-minded on the court. He is going to score. He’s not looking to pass, defend, nothing. His gift is also his curse.

Perperoglou is a great young player taht should definitely get more playing time. But aside from the fall of some of our players this season (for unknown reasons) such as Diamantidis and Dikoudis (they just ain't the same players they were in past years) we desperately need to get some low post presence. There have been rumors here than Pekovic of Partizan has already commited to Panathinaikos to come here in the summer which is a good start but we need more big bodies down low. Obradovic may not like them but they are the reason we are losing (our lack of bigs that is).

Re: The Euroleague thread - 03-22-2008, 05:29 PM

So what do you guys think about the quarter finals matchups?

Barcelona managed to beat CSKA in game 6 of top 16 to advance but I personally think Maccabi's much stronger and I see them in the Final Four against Montepaschi, these should be able to beat Fenerbaçhe without any problem.
In the other side, Tau will have a tough mathup against Partizan, who seems pretty strong at home so we better play good in game one and try to end the series there.
And finally, Olympiakos seems to be playing better with Yannakis as coach. I watched the game against Madrid and if they can get Macijauskas back, CSKA won't have it easy.

So my prediction is Maccabi-Montepaschi and Tau-CSKA for the Final Four.

Olympiakos looks on the rise. However the release of Jackson reduces their chance against CSKA dramatically. He is hard big man to handle. More now rests on Macijauskas and Greer.
