The Euroleague thread
Well I have no idea if this thread is gonna be a success or not but I was thinking that this site doesn't have a Euroleague thread so far so I thought I'd make it.If it goes well posts-wise I'll sticky it.If not then goodbye Eroleague thread!
Btw I was watching the Maccabi game earlier where Maccabi defeated Efes Pilsen and now I'm watching my own team's (Panathinaikos) game against Partizan. |

Damn that was a great match afterall! Down to the wire and the free throws that Partizan's guys missed.Great game though and high scoring as well! Almost both teams reached the 100 pts mark! :AHH:

Zalgiris had a nice game and yet 2 minutes remaining there was a big intrigue, but then young Italian talents came up and hit 3 crucial triples in a row - psychologically the most important by Mordente and following two threes by Bargnani to kill Lithuanians and secure a win.. Reggie Freeman had a big night, he hit 4 threes in the 1st half (3 of them in the 1st qrt!), Siskauskas also looked good.
Why our countrymen always play well against Lithuanian clubs? :) Well, can't say I don't really like that ;) Conversely, I wish them good luck everytime, but bad luck for their teams, hehe.

Yeah I watched that game also and I must say that Zalgiris looked real good and could've gotten away with the win but you guys kept shooting threes when you were in front on the scoreboard. If you went inside to make some sure baskets you would've won the game imo.

Nice to see the Euroleague thread. Unfortunately first time in this season both Lithuanian clubs lost this week. Lietuvos rytas lost just by two points to Olympiacos while Zalgiris also played good all game long but that three pointers by Mordente and Bargnani late in the match just killed us.
However, there are almost no doubts that both our teams will qualify for the Top-16. Looking forward for the next game when Lietuvos rytas will face Maccabi here in Vilnius. We won against the champs on road, so i'm quite optimistic about the game, hopefully it will be intriguing. Arlubas, Panathinaikos is scary, this team was terrific last season as well, but this year it's even more. The greens also signed Brandon Hunter. That man is a monster of the glass. The most scary thing is that whatever you let to come on the court, every player will get the job done. Bench players of Panathinaikos could probably be a starting five of other mid-level team of the Euroleague :AHH: . The game against Partizan 9 players appeared on the court more than 10 minutes and all of them played real good. One thing that i didn't expected was a hard win against Partizan. That was probably because more than one player (Milojevic) played good for Belgrade team. Not usual  |

Hatzivretas is supposed to be our defensive stopper. The Tayshaun Prince of our team. What most people don't know is that Hatzivretas was a big time scorer before we got him, being on the top scorers of the Greek league alongside some Americans who score for a living. And now because of the depth of this team he has become a defender! Also Spanoulis was a starter and the leader of his previous team,Marousi, where he basically did everything.Score,pass,lead,defend.Now we get to have him as our 6th man who comes in and slashes the opposing defense and energizes our team.We really have depth this year. Last year we lacked the depth plus we didn't have any rebounding and interior presences. This year we fixed the depth but our post presence is still kinda week.Femerling is out at the moment and Tomasevic seems like he won't be fully healthy again for this year.I'm waiting to see how Brandon Hunter will do.He certainly has the size and the rebounding "hunger".If we can solidify our inside presence a bit more we will surely be a big time candidate for the title. As for the Partizan game I was shocked as well that they managed to put up such a strong fight until the end but you know how Yugoslavian teams are.If they are "on their day" they can play against any team.Moral story: Don't ever count out the Yugoslavians! :Big Smile |
