2009/10 Premier League Discussion - 08-03-2009, 10:04 AM

the season is less then 2 weeks away with kickoff being on the 15/8/09 and it should be a great season as Man United wont win the title

hopefully i'll have enouhg money to renew my foxtel so i can watch all/as many games as possible. should really be a good season to see what the likes of chelsea and liverpool can do to try and claim first spot and wether or not Man City made good purchases this offseason

As an Arsenal fan,I'm disappointed a bit because we lost both Adebayor and Kolo, but I can't wait for the season to start and I'm definately looking forward to it.We had terrific performances in the Emirates Cup and if we keep playing like this it would be pleasure for me.

But if I gotta be honest I think the battle for the championship will be between Liverpool and Chelsea.Man U will be w/o Ronaldo,so it's time for Nani to shine now,but I don't think he can replace him on 100 % (who can lol) and overall United won't be so great.

As Fresh27 mentioned,Manchester City made some great moves, but I still think they're not ready to be considered as good as the Big 4.

Manchester City will be no one again..last year they were predicted to cause some problems to the big 4 but they were awful in the first half of the season and then finished 10..so Man City are trying to be like Chelsea but not with that succes..
If Lpool gets Villa..i dont know which defense could stop them..Villa + Torres = BEST STRIKER DUO in the f*ckin world..im not a fan of them but i think if this happen, the lpool years will come..
Everybody thinks that Man Utd without Ronaldo wont do anything..but im not sure..I think they will be first contender again..Manchester United is Manchester United even that i hate them..they can win every game..they can defend themselves 90 minutes and score in the last and so what..3 points for them..
as big Arsenal fan i think we're in big neeeeeeeed of a striker,we lost Adebayor,we didn't see anything from Van Persie in last years(hope it will be different this season),Eduardo = injury..he wouldnt be the same..and our hope is Vela..if i was Arsene Wenger i'll put him in the starting 11..he will be top 5 strikers in years..if we can steal David N'Gog from Liverpoll it will be nice addition to our team..he's future Anelka

and this is my opinion for this season and for the big 4..i think they're will be no surprises, its time for Wigan to relegate !

it will be either liverpool or chelsea to win the league ...it all depends on ancelottis impact on chelsea and
liverpool has to start winning against bad clubs week in and week out - they are a fantastic team when they can focus on one single team (take the CL for example) but they struggle against those smaller teams

as a manu fan i'm very disappointed by this offseason we lost ronaldo and although valencia has lots of potential - there's no way he can replace ronaldo...owen & obertan?? come on

it won't be enough to win the league but enough to secure a safe 3rd place behind chelsea and liverpool

4th will be arsenal although it will be close..i don't get why they sold adebayor ..it's ok to lose a defender like toure but not your best striker of the last couple of seasons..wenger is just out of his mind - hes just too focused on developing young players

5th will be a toss up between everton and aston villa

man city? i dont know who makes the decisions to sign or buy players but they obviously have no clue whatsoever..tevez , santa cruz , adebayor , robinho , bellamy...all nice names but won't work together
hughes will have problems when one of them starts to ***** about his reduced playing time

La Liga > EPL

That aside, Man U will be 3rd, while Chelsea and Liverpool battle it out for the title.

Hopefully Liverpool can have another somewhat successful year. I didn't tune in to many Premier League games last season but I'm really going to try and watch as many Liverpool games as possible whenever I get the time.

Newcastle got relegated didn't they? That's a god damn shame...

I may have to disagree there.

Barcelona may have won the CL but they're the only team in Spain that did anything. When it comes down to it, 3 EPL teams were in the semis and 1 Spanish team was and they won in a somewhat questionable fashion.

^he might not be refering to the actual quality of teams but more the style of play in which the 2 leagues tend to play at. I would agree that premier league is the better quality league since more teams can put up a challenge when it comes to european competitions.

and yeh crippa, Newcastle were relegated

I'm referring to now. Real Madrid and Barcelona are the two best teams in the world (on paper at least for Real Madrid, Barcelona we know is the best team).

Though I would have said it anyway even if Real Madrid didn't go on a spending spree cause I am a La Liga fan. EPL is tougher to win in because it's a rougher league, and the CL is called more like the EPL than La Liga. La Liga is sorta like basketball now and EPL is like old basketball. If that makes sense to you.

Nothing against the EPL though, I just think with all this offseason trades/loans La Liga has taken a slight edge over the EPL.
