The Swamps Finest - Tim Tebow & Heisman

For 72 years since 1935, the Heisman trophy has been awarded to the best and most valuable player in college football. There's a hint coming out of the state of Florida that suggests sophomore QB Tim Tebow is on pace to break the 72 year record of winners being either Juniors or Seniors, when he faces the music tonight.
Tebow, if he wins tonight, will become the third Florida Heisman winner ever, alongside some of the NFL's greats in Steve Spurrier & Danny Wuerffel.
Last season, with Chris Leak as quarterback for Florida, Tebow was used to run the ball part time, as Florida came away with the National Title. This season, where Tebow is leader of the offensive surge, with 3,132 yards and 29 passing touchdowns, for a rating of 177.9.
After Georgia State's Herschel Walker finished second in 1982, it was another 10 years before an sophomore contested for the Heisman title. Marshall Faulk of San Diego State came second only to Miami QB Gino Torretta in 1992. Michael Vick finished third in 1999, Rex Grossman came second in 2001, with Larry Fitzgerald also coming second in 2003. The names are there. Tebow is about to do something special if he can win the award and send himself into a garunteed contract offer later down the line; possibly with the Miami Dolphins.
The man Tebow needs to beat in the race for the Heisman is RB Darren McFadden from Arkansas, who last season placed second in Heisman voting and it is expected to be a close finish for the title. The other two players in consideration are Colt Brennan and Chase Daniel (Hawaii & Missouri quarterbacks respectively).
He has played with broken legs, soreness, sickness, injuries; you name it, he's done it, and now he is a step away from completing a record breaking season and bringing the trophy back to the swamp.
